I'm currently sat in my doctor's office as she just finished checking the data my pacemaker collected she was happy that the pacemaker was doing its job at keeping a healthy rhythm of my heart.

"Everything seems to be looking perfect. Your heart is keeping a natural pace now. The device is doing its job well, theres been a few cases where I can see its actually shocked your heart back into a healthy rhythm" Dr Lawrence told me.

"Checking over all your vitals and general health, you're fit, are taking your meds. I cant see any reason not to clear you to race again"

I couldnt help but smile brightly.

"Still take things easy but I'd say you've pretty much recovered fine and as expected for someone your age"

Still smiling I gave her my thanks and gratitude. She saved my life.

I went home to Alison and told her the good news. She was thrilled but also nervous that I'd be racing again. I knew she hated me racing, it scared her every time I'd get out on the track. She feared that one day I'd have a crash so bad that she'd lose me.

It made me feel like shit putting her through feeling like that everytime I went to work but racing was all I've ever known, it's my passion and my way of providing for her and our family. She understood that.

My fiancè, wow I'll never get bored of saying that, decided to help me pack for the race in Austin. I'm glad Alison was going to be there with me for support, although this time she would be in civilian clothing and not some revealing outfit, which I was always glad about I didnt want people ogling at her.

....

When we got to the track i was told I'd be having and interview with Suzi Perry. She was a friend i didnt see often but she was a presenter of the race on tv and i loved having interviews with her.

I had been catching and staying up to date with my sport on tv whilst i recovered from my operation and i saw what was going on. My biggest rival, Murley Lockwood, was riding pretty aggressively. That was just his style he'd always raced that way.

But he needing to tone it down it wasn't safe. This isn't bumper cars, being on a motorcycle vs a car was alot more dangerous and unforgiving. It wasn't something to take lightly.

Especially when last season he made me swerve to avoid hitting him, causing me to crash out in the gravel and break my wrist. I couldn't believe the officials hadn't done anything about him yet, it was dangerous not just for me but everybody out on that race track.

I walked into a lounge at the track where the set was for me to have my interview with my friend. I was in my gear that had my sponsors all over it as well as my name and race number which was 80.

I sat down where they told me to on a black leather couch around this glass coffee table that had water set on top of it. A few minutes later Suzi came in and I greeted her with a big hug and kiss on the cheek then we began.

"So back for the race in Austin, how is the bike looking and how are you feeling physically?" she asked as she finished her question I had finished taking a sip of my water, setting it down on the table infront of us.

"I'm feeling pretty good physically, my chest isn't sore anymore maybe slightly tender. In practice I didn't have any problems with it, im feeling comfortable on the bike. As for the bike its looking great, my team have been working really well on it with Lucy who was my stand in when i was recovering. And im happy with it shes worked great with my team to get the bike where it needs to be for the race" I told her.

She looks down at the notes in her lap then looks back up to me.

"I want to talk about Lockwood he's had penalties for aggressive riding in the past having to start from the pit lane, do you think maybe the penaltie should be more severe after having made you and Jorge crash out as well"
