Chapter 19

My energy levels fell right to my feet the moment I stepped out f the house to be faced with hundreds of men in training. Some in wolf form and others in human.

As if he was trying to give me a message, Seth stood right in front of me. He was leaning against the tree at the entrance of the building with a sadistic smile pulling at his lips.

I was wearing sweat pants and a plain shirt and glared at him grumpily.

This was not my idea of fun and I really didn't need all this training anyway. I mean, if I'm able to survive in the wild, wont I be able to survive in a fight?

As if reading my mind, Seth stepped up to me and took hold of my hand, dragging me over to a circle of men. They formed around Zane and Max, who were going head-to-head while everyone cheered for whoever they wanted to win. The fight continued on with blood dripping from Zane's eyebrow and Max's busted lip. Finally, Zane floored Max and he pressed his leg to Max's throat before they stepped back and Seth entered the ring.

"Come on, Sapphire. I need to see where you're at." Seth stated.

Everyone settled down to watch as I stepped into the ring in front of him.

"Did you do any training other than hunting over the years?"

I rubbed the back of my neck and stared up at the sky. I was not willing to acknowledge the fact that I had to face this man right now.

"Alright, I'll take that as a no, so let's get this started."

"Fine, but if I die, then it's on you, old man."

My remark was followed by a few snickers. I watched as even more of them gathered to see if I was any good. Most of them looked like they were finding my appearance for training highly amusing.

These people really didn't think much of me. Not that I can blame then, they don't know what I've been through up until this point and I wasn't planning on telling them either.

Straightening out, I watched as Seth smirked at me. He knew I used to have a few combat training sessions from my father. When he pulled off his shirt, it became apparent that he was expecting me to be a difficult opponent.

Everyone just saw it as a teasing gesture and laughed it off.

That was, until he stepped forward and swung his hand out at me, testing my reflexes. I ducked swiftly under his hand and knocked his feet out from beneath him. He was up just as fast as he went down. We both straightened out and started watching each other in anticipation, checking to see what the other had planned.

"Do you think your parents would be watching you right now?" Seth asked seriously.

My teeth locked together for a slit second as my anger surged.

"Bu them, they would have seen the way you've been hiding yourself from everyone. I don't think they would like to see that, now would they?"

"Are you trying to anger me?" I growled.

He chuckled humourlessly and held my gaze.

"No, I'm trying to get you to face what happened and get over it."

He swung at me again but jumped over my leg when it shot out. I settled a solid hit to his abs that knocked his wind out momentarily and he chuckled again.

"I just need the training, then I'm all set." I hissed.

He shook his head with that same dull smile pulling up the corners of his lips.
