Epilogue
"Sapphire, is that you?"
I froze in step at the sound of my name.
Michael, Jake, Seth and Alison slowly drew to a stop as well, turning to stare at my frozen form.
"Oh my word, it really is you!"
Angie's shrill voice made me flinch. Turning, I faced my old group, my old friends. They were seated right outside the cafe I used to hang out with them at almost an eternity ago. I knew it's not really that long ago but my life has changed remarkably. Seeing them now was like seeing ghosts, people I knew once but can't see myself fitting into anymore.
"Oh. Hi Angie. I didn't recognize you." I said.
A friendly smile slipped onto my face as I watched Seth and Alison share a look.
They clearly know who she was. I never spoke of my past life but Seth saw everything. The only person I didn't talk to about my old life was Michael.
We've been married for about six months now. As soon as I got out of my coma and deep sleep, we started organizing the wedding. Jake was a bouncing ball of energy ever since. Right now, at this moment, we were a happy family.
"Yeah. The last time you saw me was nearly three of four years ago. I was still blonde back then."
I chuckled. That's why I didn't recognize her. She'd dyed her hair a deep purple colour with green highlights in it. It was difficult to think that she was still this wild, even after all these years.
"Where have you been? We've all been wondering what happened to you. We thought you were abducted or killed. Especially after your mother's body was found..." She trailed off, blinking wildly.
I barely had time to speak before I found myself in a tight embrace.
"I'm so sorry about what happened to your mother! They thought it was murder but couldn't find the culprit."
I chuckled lightly and pulled away from her.
Everyone at her table started getting up and walking over to us. Tommy, my crush from way back, was among them and he was clearly checking me out as he walked over with his friends.
"Don't worry about it, Angie. She wasn't murdered, she took her own life."
Her eyes widened. It was clear she wanted more details but I refrained from sharing.
I felt Seth's arm drape over my shoulder and looked at him in confusion.
Angie's eyes widened as she took in his perfection. Then she looked at me with those same curious eyes but I didn't tell her anything.
"Alison and I are heading over to the blood bank."
He nodded towards the direction we were heading in and grinned.
"We'll meet you in a few minutes."
I nodded and he pulled away, sending a nod at Angie and her friends as he walked off with his sister.
Seth was kind enough to show me that his eyes weren't naturally red. Both him and Alison sported their perfect sets of blue eyes when they went out in public. Personally, I loved the red but it would be asking for trouble if he walked around like that in a mall.
"Is that your boyfriend?" One of Angie's friends, Lexis, asked.
A smooth laugh filled the air and Michael stepped up to my side, attracting the girls' attention. Today, he was sporting a sleeveless black top that clung to his every muscle and enhanced his perfectly tones biceps. Paired with his dark hair that was sticking up in all directions again.
