Chapter 20
Not so surprisingly, after the third night of wolf against vampire combat, both Seth and I limped into the building. We limped to the theatre room, completely ignoring the questions thrown out way.
We reached two open chairs and slowly lowered ourselves onto them.
We were both scratched and bruised all over. I had a little blood on my lip and eyebrow. Seth had scars on his forehead and upper lip.
We stared at each other from across the small table for a full minute before we started laughing. It was kind of tragic that we found this funny but there was no other way of handling the situation.
We were having so much fun laughing at ourselves that we didn't even register everyone in the room staring at us.
"I don't think I've had this many muscle cramps in over three hundred years." Seth choked out.
I chuckled and shook my head, rubbing my neck.
"I think I'm going to need an ice bath to get this under control."
Seth leaned over and gave me a pat on the back.
I flinched in pain.
"Jeez, this is so your fault. What kind of nut job challenges a wolf to a full on fight?"
He snorted.
His sister took a seat at his side, smirking when she took in her brother's dishevelled appearance.
"I think the years are getting to your brother." I stated calmly.
She giggled.
"Considering my brother lived for the past five hundred years, I'm actually surprised you're still in one piece."
I snorted and rolled my eyes.
"I'm not that easy of a target anymore."
I opened my mouth to say more when Max came running in.
He had a gash on his left eyebrow, clearly not from a tree hitting his face. He looked breathless and alert while he searched the room. He focused on me and the Alpha's around me. It was morning, so the vampires couldn't react when his words spilled out and sent the room into frenzy.
"They found us. There's a group of twenty but two already left to report our whereabouts to their leader. They're pushing through our thin sentry stretch."
I was on my fee and running before I'd registered is words. I didn't even pick up on Michael, Robert, Adrian and Zane following behind me with six other Alphas.
We reached the point of entrance where our sentries were barely holding on. It was seconds before we pulled them all down until only one was left.
He was forced to shift back into his human form along with the rest of us. This time I luckily found a discarded shirt that smelled like Max. I pulled it on so it covered me mid-thigh and I stepped back into the group. My eyes focused on the guy who stood his ground with his shoulders squared.
It took a minute but the moment my eyes met his, his guarded look changed into a mocking smirk. His eyes raked over my legs and body and a disgusted shiver ripped through me. My eyes turned cold, ruthless and a red haze took over. I took in his face, remembering him as clearly as I remembered my captivity, even though it was only for two days.
"Why, hello there, Sunshine. It's nice to see you again." He said in a sultry voice.
A low growl ripped from my throat. Everyone threw me a quick glance, clearly confused.
