The sun warmed Ava's cheek.  For a moment she thought she was dreaming.  She had spent so much time in the Avery at the lab facility that she almost forgot what the real thing was like.  Keeping her eyes shut, it slowly moved over her face.  She noticed deep slow breathing as Jordan rested against the fallen tree.

"Pst! Ava!"  She heard a whisper.  It was Tynon.

I looked up to see him standing on the tree behind Jordan.

"Tynon! What? How did you find us!?" Ava was at a loss for words.  Tynon escaped obviously, but he had no wings, how could he have possibly traveled as far as them?

"Oh,  you know, I have my ways." He glanced up into the trees, "Ava, we need go now!"  He motioned cautiously.

"What?  But Tynon?" She started.

He was out cold.  Ava climbed out of his palm and jumped to the cold, damp forest floor.   Jumping up and with a fluttering of her wings, she landed on the fallen log near Tynon.  She realized she had never actually hugged her long lost uncle. Ava embraced him.  He paused, surprised.  Then his arms wrapped around her.

"Uncle, I cannot leave Jordan."  His hands pulled her away from him.

"I see....."  He paused briefly, glancing over at Jordan as he slumbered.  Then he sighed.  ".....Then Ava,....I guess this is goodbye."  His eyes were sad and she stared at him with equal sadness.  "Promise me though, that you will find Warren and the tribe and warn them."

"...I will.."

Then, just like the wind, he turned, disappearing into the thick underbrush .....
