Ava sat in the shade and of the forest, observing Jordan as he ate the food she had found. He finished quite fast. A couple of mouth fulls and he was done.

"Thank you!" He said, wiping his mouth with his sleeve. Ava nodded.

Then he hesitated for a short moment, looking around. "Man, I really would love a burger right about now." Ava was confused. What the heck was a burger?

The bird's chattering echoed through the branches.  Ava sat, feeling calm as she embraced the familiar sound.  Branches  swayed and creaked.

Then the sound suddenly stopped.  Jordan didn't seem to notice.  Ava jumped to her feet. Something was wrong.

"What is it?!" Jordan asked, as he looked around frantically. "SsssHhhh!" She snapped.

After a while of awkward silence Ava felt that wasn't right.  Immediately she jumped onto Jordan's shoulder. "We've got to go now!" She demanded hastily. Jordan sensed the urgency and stood up and started walking. Ava scanned the area, making sure no one was following them. There was no one. Eventually the birds and scuttling of squirrels started back up again and she felt sure they were safe.

Jordan cleared a long distance. Eventually we came to a large meadowed clearing. Jordan needed to rest a bit. He lied down on the soft tall grass and inhaled deeply. Ava moved over onto his chest and looked around alertly.

Jordan slowly reached for Ava, resting his hand behind her. Ava tensed.  "It's okay." Jordan assured her.  His thumb softly caressed her arm.   Ava looked into his eyes, they were beautiful.

"Its alright." His words were music.

She didn't say a word. She just watched and listened to the soft rhythm of his heartbeat.

Ava tried to pry away from his gaze, but couldn't seem to.   Something warm inside began to stir.  She was new to this feeling, and had heard of other Avians falling into it. It was love.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing... I Just....Need to keep a look out for....danger." She replied, hoping he would notice.

"Alright." He replied gently. He put his hands behind his head and slowly drifted to sleep. Ava watched him for a while. The peaceful sound of the meadow and wind filled the air.
