I kept running and running but my pursuer was right on my tail, literally! I could feel his ragged breath on my tail fur. Eventually, my paws and hands started to bleed from stepping on jagged metal and sharp stones, I couldn't run anymore. I slowed to a halt and faced the turtle. Donnie was right in front of me, looking down at my trembling figure.
I looked back up at him with my piercing green cat eyes. “Please leave me alone, I don't want to hurt you again. I didn't mean to scratch you in the first place! It just sorta happened, I'm so sorry!” I kept backing away, though my hands and paws hurt with every step.
“Stand up.” He said with that voice I liked so much, so I obeyed. I glanced down at the long scratches on his arm. “You're bleeding,” I whimpered.
He looked at me with those big brown eyes, “I'm fine, but you're not.” He stated, looking at my bleeding hands and the small pool of blood forming under my white paws, which were now stained red from the blood. “Come with me and my brothers and I will fix you up.” He smiled at me with that adorable gap-toothed grin. Wait, did I just call him adorable? I nodded my head.
I gasped as he scooped me up into his arms, holding me bridal-style. My face was red the whole time he carried me back to where all the food was.
“Let's get you to my lab.” He said as we arrived. My eyes grew wide as we entered a large metal room filled with interesting items. As I admired his lab, he sat me on a cold metal table. I hopped off at the sudden cold and instantly regretted it.
A sharp pain shot through me! I started to fall forward but someone's strong arms caught me.
I looked up and blushed again when I saw the concerned look on his face as he sat me back down on the table. “Stay here while I get the first-aid kit.”
My tail swished back and forth in irritation because he was treating me like a child, even though I was…uh how old am I?
I watched as he came back with a little white box in his hands. We looked about the same age.
“How old are you?” I blurted out, and mentally slapped myself. He looked up at me in confusion and said “16.” I looked away and bit my lip. “Me too,” I replied softly. He just shook his head slightly and began rubbing something on my paw pads that made them burn like crazy! “Stop, that hurts!” I hissed pulling my paws away from him.
“Easy, kitty, it's supposed to.” A gruff voice said from behind. I whipped my head around to see the other three turtles standing in the doorway. I glared at the one in the red mask, “I don't like being called kitty.” I growled. “Well then what should I call ya, kitty?” he replied, getting right in my face.
I wrinkled my nose at him, “My name's…uh… my name…is…” I looked up at the four waiting faces before looking back down at my now bandaged paws. “I don't…remember.” I said, my ears slumped down in defeat.
The turtles looked at each other and formed a small huddle and whispered to each other, but I could still hear them.
“Leo, what do you think? Is it a trap?” the red masked asked the blue masked turtle. “I don't know. Donnie?” Leo asked. Apparently, Donnie was the smart one of the group. Donnie opened his mouth to speak but the one called Mikey piped in. “Can I name her?” not bothering to whisper. I cocked my head and stared at him. If Donnie is the smart one, then Mikey is the dumb one. “Come on, this is like my thing, dudes!” Mikey pleaded, but the others just glared at him.
These brothers are very different in personality, I concluded.
Donnie shook his head, “No, I think she just lost her memory, it could be an effect from the mutagen.” I decided to join the conversation, “Um, does this mutagen stuff you're talking about have a blue-green color to it?” They all snapped their attention to me. “Yeah,” Leo replied. “Well, I think that's what turned me like this. It was next to me when I woke up.”
Donnie walked up to me and put a three-fingered hand on my shoulder. “I'm sorry,” he said, “That was my fault. I let all the mutagen fall all over the city.” I didn't understand what that meant. I looked him in the eyes, I had gotten lost in them. They had a certain light in them, like when the sun is just coming up.
“That's it!” I exclaimed. They all nearly jumped out of their shells. “What?” they asked in unison.
I smiled and waved my still bloody hand, “My name's Sonny!”
