Chapter 5 the phone call

Chapter 5

After they had played a few songs Eliza was really starting to like them!

"So what do you think?" Alex asked, while putting his guitar on it's stand.

"you guys are..." she paused looking for the right words while Alex's face started to look sad.

"Absolutely amazing! i loved it." she smiled, while Alex ans Jack pulled her into a hug of relief.

"really?" Rian asked.

"yeah! i'm sure you guys will go far!"

"we're playing at 'battle of the bands' this weekend you should come." Alex said while walking upstairs.

everyone followed him up to the fridge to get a drink.

"would you like a drink?" Jack asked. "we have.. coke. coke and more coke. what would you like?" he looked really serious which made Eliza laugh.

"Can i just have a coke?" Jack grabbed her a can and put it on the bench while he shut the fridge.

"we were thinking about going around to the park to kick the footy. d'ya wanna come?" Alex asked.

"i probably shouldn't, I have math homework thanks to Jack!"

"hey, it wasn't my fault you replied!"

"whatever!" she laughed.

Rian and Zack had gone somewhere so she was standing in the kitchen with Jack and Alex.

"I should probably get going."

"we'll walk you home!" Jack smiled.

"ZACK.. RIAN." Alex called. as they walked into the room.

"oh.. you're right there!.... you coming?"

"yeah." Rian spoke clearly.

They walked across the street and stopped at the footpath outside Eliza's house.

"this was fun! we should do it again sometime." Jack said.

"You gonna come this weekend?" Zack asked. he hadn't really spoke much while Eliza had been there.

"i'll ask my dad tonight and let you guys know tomorrow."

"okay see ya!" Jack said while pulling her into a friendly hug, she was quite surprised!

"bye Jack." she laughed. she waved goodbye to the others and went inside.

looking at the time on her phone it was 5.59.

"perfect timing!" her dad called from the kitchen. "dinner's ready."

she grabbed her plate and sat on the couch to eat. Pasta bake! yummy! she watched the 6. o'clock news with Josh.

"So where did you go?" he asked.

"over to Rian's house with Jack and Alex to watch them practice... their in a band!"

"cool!" he took another bite of his food.

"are they any good?" her dad asked.

"their awesome!.. actually their playing at battle of the bands this weekend and i was wondering if i can go?"

"i guess so.." he tralied off. "you do know what it is this weekend right?" he asked.

memories flashed through her head of what they had done this time last year and the time before. On Sunday it was the 12th of February it had been 5 years since she lost her mother.
