Chapter 13: Separate Ways

Hannah's POV - The Following Morning

Beep beep! A text? Pina? Come to the basement promptly at 10:30. Don't tell anyone. Strange, did something happen? I guess I'll find out when I get there. I have 5 minutes until 10:30 so I think I'll start making my way there.

"Hey Hannah, where're you going?" Zoey asked.

"I'm going to go and Kim, do you know where she is because I have something important to tell her." Zoey thought for a second and shook her head.

"Sorry, I don't know where she is. You could check their room or you could find Pina because they might be out training." Phew, at least she didn't ask why. "After you've finished talking to Kim, come and find me in the kitchen because I want to ask you something." What is with everyone and seeing me? It's so strange. I have a feeling that today's going to be a long and strange day. I arrived at the door of the basement at exactly 10:30. The door opened and she invited me in.

"Thanks for coming here so quickly. I have something to tell you about that is pretty important." I'm now a little bit scared. Have I done something wrong or did something happen?

"Did something happen?" She looked down and nodded.

"Nina's gone. She left this morning and she wanted me to give this to you." She handed me a letter with a wax seal on it. "I don't know what it is but judging by the weight of it, ther should be a letter and something else inside." Why would Nina leave something for me? Surely this should've been for Pina instead of me. I carefully broke the wax seal and took out the letter and the other object which was a coin on a necklace.

Dear Hannah,

There's a lot of things that I want to tell you but I can't just in case someone gets a hold of this letter either by accident or intensionally which would be bad for the rest of the group. Everything that I'm about to say is meant to be kept between us except for the parts which have an asterics at the beginning.

1. You may be wondering about why I left the group and I'll tell you exactly why. I'm planning to go to explore more of Russia and find all the other camps. I'm planning to destroy those first and lower the control the terrorists have over the country. I knoew that it's stupid for me to think that way but I'm doing this for the citizens of Russia.

2. I don' trust Titan and his crew. I can't believe that Pina and Alex are actually believing him and are going to cooperate. I mean, this absolutely crazy! A group of mercenaries are being allowed to freely roam in our base. One day, not long from today, the mercenaries are going to turn against you and hand you over to the Russians where Zaku is ajd kill you all. I don't want to be there when that happens, when all of you are slaughtered and dumped into the city.

3. I've found a safe way into the base and I'm planning to go in there myself and rescue Zaku. I know, that sounds like suiside but if I get in and think that it's too dangerous then I'll just sneak back out. If you ever see a bright blue light coming from the main base then that's me using my unique ability which means that I'm not doing so well. If you do see it then don't bother coming because it'll just end badly for the group.

4. Zaku told me that if I ever wanted to leave then I could. She wasn't the kind of person to push people into doing something that they didn't want to unless it was absolutely necessary. I've decided that now was the time that I wanted to leave because of the reasons above. There are a lot more reasons but they're too difficult to explain.

The reason why I decided to leave you a letter was because I believe that you can lead the group to victory and make them powerful. I just wanted you to know that if things start going downhill, just leave and start again. That's what I'm doing.

I wish you and the others the best of luck,

Nina

Is she insane? Now's not the time to be disbanding and going separate ways. God dammit Nina, why did you have to leave. Was this the result of the argument yesterday?

"What does it say?" Pina says. What do I tell her? I might as well show her the letter.

"Here, you can read it yourself." I give her the letter and watch as her expressions change as she reads each point. By the end of the letter, her eyes were full of tears. Jesus Christ, this is messed up, I mean, we've lost one person, broken someone's heart and maybe lose the faith of everyone else in the Yogscast. "Come on, I think that we should tell the others before they start wondering." She nods and wipes her tears away. I give her a piggy back to the lobby and push a button to tell everyone to gather in the lobby. After 5 minutes, everyone is in the room. "Do you want me to speak?" I whisper to Pina. She nods her head slightly. "Ok guys, I've got some bad news. Nina has left the group and is going to go on her own from now on." There were a few gasps and whispers. "We don't know where she is currently but I think that we should continue training as normal and start planning about our raid on the main terrorist camp." Everyone nods. "Tonight at 11, I want see Sjin, Lewis, Rythian and Anya in the attic along with Titan and his men."

11PM

"Tonight, we're going to scout around the forest for food and hiding spots. We need to start sending people out of the bunker and to camping spots to watch the Russian patrols and for unusual things. You'll be travelling in pairs and we're going to start scouting tonight. The pairs are, Sjin and Lewis, Rythian and Anya and Titan with his men."

"Just so you know, we do have a lady in our group." I look over to a woman standing at the back of the group. She has jet black hair and blue eyes.

"Sorry, Titan and his group because there are too many to name at once. Am I correct in saying that you're experienced in scouting?" They all nod in sync which is kinda scary. "Ok... let's go then." We make our way to the roof where the zip wire is. The zip wire leads to a tree that is not so far from the bunker. "Let's go. Sjin go south, Rythian go east, one half of Titan's group to the north and the other to the west. I'm going to roam all round." They took the zip line one by one and separated.

"I have something important to tell you. My crew and I have to return to the main camp by the next sundown. We only took a leave for 2 days and if we're away for longer than that then the boss will start getting suspicious." That would make sense, hired mercenaries are expected to stay by their payer. "I just wanted to tell you before tomorrow because it may seem like we're ditching you. The next time I come here with my men, which will be in 4 days, we will attack the main camp and bring Zaku back." If he can freely walk about the main camp, why can't he just get Zaku out?

"Why can't you just take Zaku out with you?" He raises his right hand and a transparent purple chain appears. It's some sort of aura binding.

"One end of the chain stays in the camp and the other is free to move. I used this to capture Zaku and restrain Zaku from using aura. All the aura that she is passively making is being channelled through the chain and to me. I can't release her because the boss will definitely know that something is going on and most likely kill us both on the spot." What a difficult position to be in. I mean, so much stress and order. The life of a mercenary seems hard and I would definitely quit after the first week or so. Plus, killing people isn't very fun... most of the time.
