For those that have school tomorrow, I am terribly sorry lol

Jake pulled into the school parking lot and parked the car before climbing out leaving Kat hesitant in the car. She wasn't really close to anyone at school except for Sarah and Jake. They were her only friends and this game seemed like a pretty big deal. What if she ended up watching it all alone? She sighed climbing out and looking across at Jake to see him waving to some dark silhouettes across the lot which she assumed were his friends. Crap. She really was going to be all alone.
The shadows walked towards them yelling Jake's name and when they came closer, Kat could finally make out their faces in the dim light. It was Jake's basketball buddies. They were like some weird clique and this made Kat somewhat jealous. She had never had a group of friends like that or the feeling of being wanted as people ran to greet her. Her lips pursed tight together as she awkwardly shifted on her feet looking down at the concrete as the friends greeted Jake.
They didn't notice Kat at first, but when they did they made a face and she saw it making her frown. It wasn't a friendly face they made and she wasn't sure what they were thinking, but she was also not sure if she wanted to know. "I'm getting kind of hungry. Can we go get some food?" She asked breaking the sudden silence that had fallen on all of them. Jake nodded and glanced at his friends who were still staring at Kat oddly making her squirm uncomfortably under their stares. "Come on." He took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze silently telling her he wouldn't leave her.
As they walked towards the stadium her ears picked up on the sound of laughing behind them making her glance over her shoulder to see Jake's friends all doubled over in loud laughter that they weren't even trying to hide. She lowered her head as she felt her face get hot with a bright red blush, she quickened her pace now nearly pulling Jake across the pavement towards the grass just wanting desperately to put some distance between them and the embarrassment she had just experienced.
Jake chuckled feeling her tug him along, "Why the rush?" She didn't want to give him the honest answer of feeling awkward in a large group of people she didn't know, but that was a normal feeling right? Maybe, but she couldn't just tell Jake she didn't want to hang out with his friends. That would be more embarrassing then what happened moments ago.
When they reached the concession stand was when Kat realized she had no money and even something as simple as nachos seemed expensive. She bit her lower lip chewing on it as she shot a glance in Jake's direction to see him pulling out twenty bucks from his pocket. "You don't have to." She said and her stomach growled making Jake look at her with an arched eyebrow, "You sound pretty hungry to me and I don't mind." Kat nodded, "I know you don't, but I'm not a charity case. You've done enough for me..." Jake smiled shaking his head and leaned in planting a small kiss on her temple before paying for two plates of nachos. Kiss? Why would he do that? Her eyes watched him closely as if analyzing him hard enough would reveal the meaning behind his actions.
She decided to let it go in the end figuring that not everything meant something. She didn't have to over think the small kiss he had planted on her temple with his soft lips ...they had gently pressed to her skin feeling like silk. Kat was then shaken out of her thoughts. Literally. Jake had taken her arms and shaken them just a bit to get her attention, "You alright?" He asked with a concerned tone and his eyebrows knitted together. She smiled, "Yeah. Thanks." She said as he handed her the plate of nachos.
By the time they had reached the bleachers Kat had managed to scarf down half her plate of cheesy chips that tasted, well, amazing! She smiled as her stomach was starting to feel satisfied and there was a moment where she thought this could turn out to be fun despite her rough start, but she was wrong. Just as she believed things were getting better, the got worse. So much worse.
