Is it bad that I already want school to be over?

Kat pursed her lips to a fine line before lowering her head, a small smile tugged upwards at the corners of her mouth as her eyes flickered to meet his beautiful brown ones and for a brief beautiful moment in time everything else disappeared around them. It seemed as if when she looked into his eyes, she couldn't look away or at least didn't want to. His eyes gave her a sense of relaxation as if she didn't have to fear anything, not even her father. She blinked pulling herself out of the trance that she had fallen into as she had stared into his eyes, "I don't know where to begin...I don't know what to ask first." She admitted with a shrug. Jake watched her smiling as he did, "Begin wherever you want."
Thats when she remembered the picture on the wall of the girl who looked somewhat like her, she looked over at it seeing it was still there and pointed towards it, "Who is that?" She hoped she wasn't prying too much, but he did say she could ask him anything. Jake's eyes followed to where she was pointing and sighed as he looked at the picture, he ran a hand through his hair staring at it with a saddened look in his eyes, "That...is-was my sister." He glanced at Kat and she was taken a back. "Sister?" She scooted towards him a little intrigued. He nodded though said nothing for a moment before opening his mouth to explain, "Her name was Jordan." A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips before he continued, "She was seven when she was diagnosed with cancer." A pang of guilt hit Kat and she quickly shook her head, "I-I didn't know-" she tried to defend herself, but he simply nodded, "I know. Thats why I'm telling you." He sighed, "She lost the battle at nine."
Kat looked down completely embarrassed to ask such a personal question, "You didn't have to tell me." She whispered fumbling with her fingers. His head was down as well, "You live here...You should know." A silence followed after he spoke those words and neither of them broke the silence for a while until she reached out placing a hand on his thigh. She intended for it to be a comforting touch, but by the look he gave her he looked creeped out and she immediately pulled away blushing.
He laughed a little shaking his head, "I was just surprised." He took her hand in his rubbing the back of it. She looked at him and smiled slightly still blushing. "Any other questions?" He asked staring at her hand as he massaged it with his. Kat watched his hand caress and massage hers, a chill ran down her back and she became relaxed which was not the usual feeling she received when someone touched her. Touchiness was a touchy subject for her. (See what I did there? 😂)She bit her lower lip, "Favorite color?" This made him laugh and toss his head back a bit which gosh made him look so good not to mention how adorable his laugh was. His laugh made her laugh, "What?" She asked and he shook his head arching an eyebrow at her, "Favorite color? Its just cliche." He shrugged looking back at her hand and he started to massage her arm. Kat rolled her eyes slightly blushing, "Just answer." He looked at her then back down, "Blue."
She smiled watching him, "Why?" She asked softly and he paused massaging her for a moment, "I don't know." He said with a small shrug then looked up in her eyes, "Do I have to have a reason?" He asked with some amusement and she shook her head, "I guess not." Jake nodded as he started working his way up her arm now just rubbing her upper arm. When he seemed to be leaning in, Kat quickly looked down, "Um..." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and asked the first question that came to her mind, "Were you trying to kiss me?" It just slipped out before she could stop it and she mentally slapped herself before looking away feeling her face get hot with bright red blush. Jake blinked looking down, "Yeah..." He said after a second, "If you don't want to-" he cut off looking at her and she was now looking at him.
Jake gave her a small smile and scooted towards her making the bed creak, "Kat." He said her name and gently grabbed her shoulders locking eyes with her and looking deeply into them. She stared back transfixed by him when she suddenly realized she wasn't breathing and reminded herself to do that. Her breath fanned across his face, "What are we?" She whispered. His smile widened and he searched her eyes for a moment before responding in a whisper as soft as hers, "Whatever you want." He paused and his expression became serious, "You can't be scared forever Kat. Someday you'll have to let someone in and if that someone isn't me then I just hope whoever that someone is will treat you like you deserve to be treated."
What he said made Kat's heart melt. You know that warm fuzzy feeling people talk about getting? Kat had never experienced that until now and as she looked in his eyes she realized he was her rescue. Her lifesaver. He had pulled her from the treacherous waters and the past she so badly wanted to forget. With him, she could forget it and for the first time she could see hope in the future. Who better than Jake to have her first kiss with? Well, her first consensual kiss anyway...
Slowly, very slowly, she leaned in and he leaned in as well until their lips met. His were as soft as they looked and moved against hers gently, his hand moved behind her neck cupping it in such a careful cautious way as if asking if it was okay that he made that move. For a moment, they kissed each other with a slow steady pace and then Kat pulled back. She looked in his eyes then down smiling, "What are we?" She asked again. Jake watched her and responded with the same response as before, "Whatever you want us to be."~~~
