Kat looked at Jake with a small unsure smile, she had never been in a relationship and what she had seen from her parent's didn't exactly make her desire one. She sighed softly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear only for it to fall back to where it had been hanging annoyingly in front of her eye, she huffed before letting out a light laugh as she shook her head. Thats when his hand reached out tucking it behind her ear for her and this time it stayed, she looked up locking eyes with him. As they leaned in for another kiss, she heard the front door close down stairs and pulled back blushing. Jake let out a soft slightly annoyed sigh as he glanced at the door then at her, "Later." He smiled then added, "If you want." He stood kissing the top of her forehead before walking out of her room and closing the door behind him.
She watched him leave before collapsing back on the bed staring at the ceiling thinking of that moment when their lips touched and everything else faded away, nothing had seemed to matter anymore except him and the more she thought about it, the more they seemed to make sense together. He was the first guy to ever approach her, the first to ever get to know her and care, he took her into his home and helped her when she had a panic attack...He made her feel not so alone and made her somewhat forget her dad. In a way, he had saved her. Scratch that. In many ways, he had saved her. She glanced over at the clock and was shocked to see she had been lying there thinking for two hours about one moment and all the things leading up to it.
Kat sat up rubbing the back of her head feeling her eyes droop, she stood and walked into the bathroom deciding that maybe a bath would help. She drew some hot water into the tub which was so much larger than her own at her old house, not only that, but her old one didn't even have warm water. She undressed slowly looking at the water filling the tub with eagerness to climb in and let all the dirt and sweat from the day wash away. There was a brief pause before she climbed into the bathtub, she looked into the mirror. It was a clear clean mirror...a little too clear and clean so she could see all of her old scars. The ones she had been given by others and also the ones she had made herself. Looking at herself in that moment, she realized that Jake didn't magically make her scars disappear, but he did help them heal and that was enough for her.
She turned slipping into the steaming water with a sigh, she let the warmth relax her body as well as her mind. She stayed there for a while just enjoying wading as all her thoughts seemed to disappear. After half an hour, she was out of the bath feeling literally like a new person as she was now completely clean with her wet hair pulled into a ponytail and lying in bed with the covers pulled to her chin. Right when she began to close her eyes, there was a soft rapping sound at her door. She frowned slightly wondering who and why, "Yes?" She called and Jake peeked his head in, "May I?" He asked and she nodded smiling as she saw it was him.
Jake walked in closing the door behind him before sitting on the edge of her bed. She looked up at him dearly hoping she didn't have a double chin in that moment looking up at him like that, she moved over a little and gestured to the space she had made which was big enough for him. He glanced down at it then at her slightly taken a back, but didn't hesitate to happily crawl underneath the covers and join her in bed. When he held her letting her snuggle up to him, Kat had never remembered falling asleep so fast. The next morning, Jake was already gone when she woke up. She blinked open her eyes not feeling his body next to hers and rolled over to see him gone, she frowned slightly stretching before sitting up as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. She glanced down at herself and just decided to wear jeans with the t-shirt she had worn to bed that night.
She walked downstairs looking for Jake then saw him sitting at the table eating lucky charms, she smiled and walked over joining him, "Hey." She said as she sat beside him and he glanced up as a marshmallow fell out of his mouth, "Hey." He smiled at her and gently nudged her knee with his underneath the table.Kat was silent as he ate not watching him so she didn't look like a weird stalker. She wished she had a cellphone to pull out and pretend as if she was doing something so the awkward silence they were having wouldn't be so...awkward. When he finally stood up to put his bowl away she smiled in relief standing as well, "Ready?" She walked to the door grabbing her backpack. He glanced over his shoulder at her arching an eyebrow, "You're not going to eat?" She shook her head not feeling hungry and he nodded turning before walking over to her, "Sleep well?" He rubbed her arms looking in her eyes and she couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face, she felt goofy how every time he touched her, she smiled. "Better than I have in a long time." She admitted, "How did you sleep?" She gave him a small playful poke to the stomach not sure how to flirt because she had never done it before, but a small nudge on tv seemed to be considered flirting so she just winged it.
He chuckled looking in her eyes, "Kat..." He whispered watching her closely, he touched her cheek before cupping his hand around her neck. Briefly, Kat felt a pang of worry, but then reminded herself he wasn't her dad and would never hurt her so she relaxed. "What are we?" He asked quietly, his eyes not leaving hers. She looked down, "I thought about it last night..." She paused, "And I think I want this." Jake smiled widely before getting a serious look on his face, "Are you sure?" She nodded looking in his eyes, "Yeah. Positive." And this time she made the first move, their lips met halfway. This kiss was different than the one last night, the one before was soft and shy with carefulness. Now it was passionate and harder, not so soft and innocent anymore. She pulled back smiling and looked down blushing not even sure if she was a good kisser.
He lifted her chin gently cupping it with his hand and locked eyes with her before moving into kiss her again, but just before his lips touched hers, his mom walked in and they both pulled away instinctively. "Hey you guys." Mrs. Shannon greeted them with a smile obviously not having seen them nearly kissing. "Uh hey mom." Jake laughed uneasily looking like a deer caught in the headlights, "We're just going to school." He grabbed Kat's hand tugging her towards the door.
"You have everything right?" His mom smiled at Kat waving at her before looking back at Jake who was nodding, "Yeah." He said pulling her outside to the car with him, he blew out a puff of air of relief before laughing, "That was almost...bad." He looked at Kat and she was laughing as well, he smiled pulling her close to him and cutting her laugh off with a kiss. Each kiss they shared seemed to become more and more passionate, harder, a bit rougher as each time she would relax letting the addictive taste of him consume her actions, she just kissed him with not even a thought about her father and whenever those thoughts try to sneak in, she would push them away. She pressed her chest to his wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her lips to his harder now even harder than before. Jake pulled back after a few moments and looked at her slightly breathless, "As much as I'm enjoying this...we can't be late." He smiled pecking her lips once more before opening the door for her.
Kat smiled stepping into the car and he leaned down whispering in her ear, "Have I ever told you how good of a kisser you are?" This made her flush red and that blush remained there till they arrived in the school parking lot and what she saw made all the color drain from her face.
