"My apartment's over there." I said, holding onto my coffee cup with both hands.
It was still cold for early summer. Harry and I had gotten coffee at a little café I used to work before I had gotten a job at the office. Most of the people still knew me and I was slightly embarrassed when they yelled out my name. I gave them out orders in barista speak which is nonsense for everyone else.
Harry looked at me, impressed.
"I used to work here." I said by way of explanation. He nodded.
"I used to work in a bakery, we had abbreviations for everything." I nodded and smiled, glad someone finally got it.
We slowly made our way to my apartment. The city was quiet for once or maybe I just didn't notice it as much since I had someone to talk to. I told him about my job and how I loved/hated it. He told me he felt the same way about his. I asked him about it.
"Let's just say I'm a performer." He replied.
I smiled."So you're a rodeo clown or something?"
"Or something." He said.
I felt comfortable with him even though I had just met him. Sometimes I would look over and see him smiling at me and then I would look away and hide my smile. We arrived at my apartment far too quickly and he followed me to the door.
"Thanks again." I said turning to look at him.
"Thanks for the coffee." He said shaking his cup slightly.
"We'll have to do it again."
"The coffee or me saving your life?"
"I don't know whichever one comes first." I said coyly.
I normally didn't act like this at all but I liked Harry. A lot. He laughed.
"Hopefully it will only be for coffee." He said.
He looked at me and I looked at him. I wanted him to kiss me, but kissing meant that he wanted to see me more often. Did I want to see him more often? He leaned in and I held my breath. Yeah I wanted to see him again.
He gently kissed my cheek and then moved away.
"Good night Emma." He said.
He slowly backed away.
"Good night Harry." I called after him.
I unlocked the door to the lobby of my apartment and went inside I leaned against the door after I closed it and smiled. Perfect, tonight was perfect.
