They came into the lobby and I plastered the biggest, fakest smile I could and pretended I had never seen any of the members before which wasn't that hard.
"Welcome boys." I said walking forward. They all stopped at once and looked at me. I was wearing my most boring grey skirt and blazer but it was still nice to get the attention.I felt my face flush.
"Hello, I'm Zayn." Zayn came forward and shook my hand.
"Hello."
"I'm Niall." Niall butted in and smiled at me. I tilted my head and smiled back and said hello.
"I'm Louis." Louis said shaking my other hand and causing me to drop my notepad and pen.
"Hello." I said,laughing.
"I'm Liam." Liam said shooting Louis a dirty look.
"And I'm Harry." I tried not to jump when Harry appeared beside me with my notepad and pen in his hands.
"Thank you." I said, taking my items. His hand brushed against mine and I refused to feel a spark.
"If you'll all follow me." I said turning on my heel and leading them up to the conference room.
The boys followed behind me talking and laughing. I pressed the button for the elevator and waited for the door to open. Four of the members went in.
"I'll take the next one up. Just press the button for the 11th floor." I said.
"I'll wait with you." Harry said.
Before I could protest the doors to the elevator closed and I was left alone with Harry. I tapped my foot, waiting for the next elevator.
"So." Harry said, as though we were in the middle of a conversation already.
"Why didn't you tell me you were in a band?" I asked, trying to keep my voice neutral. Why didn't you tell me you were engaged? I thought.
"Most people recognize me on sight so I figured you would know me."
"Well I live under a rock apparently." I snapped.
He was too close to me. I stepped forward and pressed the button for the elevator again.
"I had fun last night." He said. I knew that he meant it but said nothing as the doors to the elevator opened and we stepped into the crowded space.
"You probably don't have to share your elevators with the normal folk that often, so you're just going to have to make do for right now." I whispered sarcastically.
He shrugged, folding his arms over his skinny frame to make more room for me. I tapped my pen against my notepad and looked at the floor numbers like they were the most interesting things in the world. Harry started humming and a couple people turned and noticed who was in the elevator with them. They smiled at Harry and he smiled back and tipped his head. The doors opened on our floor and we made our way off the elevator. I made sure to go in front of Harry and walk fast, leaving no option for conversation. The rest of the band was waiting for us.
"Right this way please." I said, back in my role as polite tour guide. I opened the door to the conference room for them and they went inside. I left the door open a crack as I followed them inside.
"Welcome One Direction!" Ms. Richmond cooed the exact opposite of how she normally was.
I looked carefully, was she wearing lipstick? Her hair looked like she had just brushed it too. She shook their hands and then they all sat around the table. I stood by the door.
"If you would like Miss. Knightly here will take drink orders for you."
The boys gave me their orders except for Harry.
"Anything for you Mr. Styles?" I asked, through my teeth.
"Coffee please." 2 sugars, 4 creams I thought. "2 sugars, 4 creams." He continued. I nodded and then left the room, off in search of coffee and scones that tasted like cardboard.
