Chapter 13: Mamma Mia
So after a hushed conversation about purity and saving myself till marriage I finally got my mom to understand that nothing happened. Of course during this whole conversation Harry was showering and then getting dressed in his date clothes that I had washed earlier. I was very thankful for that since my mom kept saying the word “sex” repeatedly. There are many words that I would never like to hear out of her mouth, that word being in the top ten. Though despite the conversation she did mean well and I had to love her for it. I will always love her for it. With awkward goodbyes exchanged between us, Harry quickly left dressed and warm.
I woke up the next morning to the sun glistening on the fresh snow. I really liked snow sometimes but I prefer sunny places, like Texas, that don’t even feel like its winter sometimes. I checked my phone and I had missed three calls and a text from Ben. Oh geez Ben, sweet, gently tousled, cat loving, Charlie loving Ben. Wait was hhe Charlie loving? Of course I wouldn’t be able to fully confirm that till I went home. Did I even want it to be confirmed? I was currently content with being single and being in the great arms of Harry Styles. There was a knock at my door.
“Come in!” I called as I sat up. In walked Erin with a very panicky face. “What’s up?” I asked her.
“You do know what day it is right?” She said coming over to sit at the edge of my bed.
“Christmas eve and Louis Tomlinson’s birthday?” I asked her. “Oh by the way merry Christmas.” I added.
“Well yes that… it’s the day my parents get to meet Niall… What do I do?” She asked again obviously very scared. Now Mr. Rivera wasn’t such a scary man. He didn’t really deal with the few boys that ever happened to dare to step into Erin’s life, he only decided whether or not they were worth being able to step into her world, but Mrs. Rivera… let’s just say she was another story.
“Everything will be fine. I’ll stop by today before the boys come over to my house to prepare here and then I’ll pop back over and bring them.” I told her patting her shoulder. I wasn’t quite positive at how this will all work out but it wouldn’t be the first time we had guys over at the Rivera home. Grant it they were in no way interested in us, well me, but they were in no way a threat since they seemed to be fairly scared of her mom. “Now out so I can get dressed!” I said hoping out of bed and pushing my best friend out like an annoying little sister. Oh gosh, I loved her. I don’t know what it is about holidays that make me so gushy!
I quickly hopped into the shower and stood there for a bit letting the hot water prune up my skin. It was a fairly cold morning and to be honest I didn’t want to get out of the bathroom and step into the cold world. But to the fact that I was busy and made promises that I intended to keep, I stepped out and froze my bum off. This doesn’t just happen in the winter time, it’s just worse.
I put on a red jumper that Ben had given me before I left. It was pretty tacky but I sort of liked it and it was from him, threw on a pair of light brown pants and my black boots. I walked to the foyer and grabbed my penguin earmuffs and black coat and headed out the door. My mom was already over at Erin’s house.
It was just a quick eight minute walk between our homes made so much faster with a few slightly off-key carols and dodging snowball fights. Harry and I weren’t the only ones who had enjoyed the fresh fall. When I approached there simple decorated home there was no need to even knock, I walked straight in. The Rivera’s were my second family which equaled their home was my second home. At one point they even though about giving me a key, of course that never happened. Erin still didn’t have one and she lived there!
