Chapter 14: Shadow Figure

The day was somewhat perfect besides the fact that i almost drowned but perfect. I wonder why Lucas didn't already sense that we were mates whenever he first kissed me. Maybe because it was rushed and neither one of us was ready, or at least i wasn't. Delta had finally came back from her camping trip and took us to the mall at 11:30pm. WE got home at 12:30am and my energy was fully drained. I bid the girls goodnight and trudged up to my room. Since Lucas and I are official i moved into his room so i could give Hope and Violet their own space. The three of us have grown close as if we were sisters. Deacon has been nothing but kind and sweet to me even though he was a little upset that i wasn't his mate. Dominic has been spending most of his time teaching Violet how to use her powers. James and Sabrina are making sure that the area is safe and checking to see if we have any missions. So many things have changed from that day at school when everything spun out of control.

    “Babe what are thinking about?” I jumped in surprise but quickly gathered my senses. I was laying sideways on our bed while Lucas reads.

    “Oh nothing just thinking about how everything has changed since that day at school.” i said switching sides so i'm facing him. His chiseled chest was slightly sticking out the covers as he laid back on the head board.

    “Yeah i could see how that could shock you. You know, now that i think of it...why did you always avoided me?” i slightly gulped and looking into his green orbs.

    “Because i knew that you and Dominic were fighting and i didn't want to interfere so i decided to just leave one of you alone.” he nodded his head in understanding but looked away from me.

    “The reason why we were fighting because i was attracted to you and i wanted to date you to see if you were my mate but Dominic didn't want me to break your heart if you wasn't. Then it just crossed me, what if i get mad and you are too close? You could hurt or killed and it would tear me apart. I Cant lose control with you.” my eyes teared up as i sit up. His white t shirt covering my lower half.

    “You won't lose control and you won't hurt me. Don't be ashamed of who you are. If you get mad ill make sure to stay back a bit but i'll never leave you.” i stroked the side of his face. He placed his book down on the nightstand and lifted my body onto his lap.

    “You are my perfect fallen angel.” he placed quick kisses all over my face making me laugh. I rest my head on a soft part of his chest and let my thoughts slip away. He pulls the cover over my body and kisses my head.

    “I know a lot has been happening but you will be amazing at everything you do. I promise we’ll kill him.”

~Morning~

    The light shimmered through the curtains as i fluttered my eyes open. It almost felt calm and relaxing to wake up with Lucas’ arms caged around my waist, but something prevented me from enjoying this moment. A shadow figure similar to the one i saw at the old house stood at the foot of our bed watching me. I carefully lifted up Lucas’ arms and stood on my side of the bed as the figure turned to face me.

  “Who are you? What do you want?” it didn't move or say anything.

    “What do you want from me?” the figure still didn't move or utter a word.

    “I know what species you are, you're a Shadow.” i slowly went to go shake Lucas awake but the figure launched at me and grabbed me by the throat. I clawed at the black hand that was squeezing my neck tighter but my hand kept ghosting through. Lucas slowly started to stir awake to my gasping sounds and the shadow disappeared into thin air. I toppled to the floor and gasped for air as my lungs burned.
