Chapter 27

[Riley's POV]

Two days have passed but still, Di's not yet awake.

"Riley, you should go home now and take a rest. It's almost 8pm."

"It's alright Mommy M. I can still manage."

"Riley. Please think about yourself too. Go home and rest. I'll text you when Di wakes up, okay?"

I took a sigh and nodded. I stood up and kissed Di on the forehead before I left the room. As I was walking down the hall, a guy suddenly blocked me.

"You must be Riley."

I looked at him from head to toe.

"Then you must be Brent."

He grinned at me while he placed his hands on his pockets.

"So you know me?"

"Yeah."

"So you're Diane's best friend right?"

"Yeah."

"Are you really just best friends?"

"What do you think?"

"You're her first love."

"You know?"

"I'm not that numb you know."

"Then why do you keep forcing yourself to her?"

"I already stopped okay? No matter what I do, you're the only guy she'll love."

"Look. I have to go. It's getting late."

I was about to walk but then he blocked me again.

"Wait."

"What?"

"I gave up on her because I want her to be happy. So don't you dare waste the sacrifice I did. Make her happy and never leave her, even if she leaves you, don't leave her."

I smiled and shook my head a bit.

"Don't worry. I will never leave her."

After that, I started to walk and left the hospital. When I got home, I just took a quick shower and went to bed.

While I was in the middle of my sleep, my phone beeped. I grabbed it from the table and looked at it.

I received a text from.... Di?! I suddenly sat up and opened the message that she sent me.

Diane: Riley :)

Is this really her? Or is Tyler messing with me again?

I texted her back and said.

Riley: Tyler. Don't mess with me again.

Instead of getting a reply, she called me. At first I was a bit nervous on answering it but I was really curious if it was really her.

"He---hello?"

"Riley."

Tears suddenly fell from my eyes. IT'S REALLY HER!!! She's finally awake!!

"Hey. Don't cry."

"I'm not crying."

"Really? I can feel that you're crying."

"Psh. You know me to well."

"Well, I'm you're best friend."

"When did you woke up? Mommy M said she'll text me when you wake up."

"I actually just woke up. Mom's still sleeping. She doesn't even know that I'm already awake. You were the first to know though."

"I'm really glad you're awake already."
