Jieun POV

There was nothing to do after I had washed the dishes. I ended up sleeping on the armchair in the living room.

I woke up with a jolt. It was dark already. I checked the time on my phone. 6:00pm. I went upstairs and checked on Baekhyun. He was lying still in his bed when suddenly he sneezed. I saw the open window above his head and closed it. I wrapped his blankets more tighter around him and closed the door behind me. I went to my room and sat in my chair. I stared at the tin box, that was on the table from this morning.

After a while, I brought it with me downstairs to the living room and sat in the armchair again. I turned on the reading lamp beside me and opened the box. I picked up the flower clip that was lying on top. The hair clip itself was rusted and the flower ornament was dirty, yet it still looked antique and elegant. I put the clip down and picked up the candy wrapper. I unfolded the thin, delicate wrapping and inspected the writing inside.

Sogogi....Japan. There were obviously two writers. The first one called the other one Sogogi. Beef? Who would call someone beef? And it had said something about Japan. It had been two years since I moved here from Japan. If my mom had given this box earlier, there would have been a possibility for me to meet either of these people. I carefully placed the wrapper down and began to go through the polaroids.

I could imagine what was happening during the time the photo was taken. Every picture seemed to tell a happy story of these two people. I felt familiar and secure looking through each polaroid. As I was looking through, I could almost hear two children laughing and screaming happily.

I smiled to myself, when suddenly I heard a phone ring.

Baekhyun POV

As I crept up to Jieun to see what she was so intently looking at, my phone in my pocket rang. I almost jumped out of my skin. Jieun turned around.

"Baekhyun? Is that you? You're awake already?"

"Aha yea..." I said, scratching my head. My phone was still ringing. I signalled to her that I had to answer the phone before running off, my heart still beating. I took out my phone. Sora was calling me. It took me a while to decide whether to answer her call or not. I ended up swiping the red button. Why should she call me? Shouldn't she be calling her dear Jaekyeong? I don't think there's any more business with her, right? I thought to myself. But then, I saw that there were 8 miss calls from her. So I waited for her to call again. I leant against the door and waited. She didn't call again.

Jieun POV

I placed everything back in its box and went to make dinner.

"Baekhyun! Dinner is ready!" I yelled as I poured the cream pasta onto plates.

He walked in, intensely looking at his phone and sat down. I brought the two plates to the table.

"Eat." I said.

"Oh...yea..." he said. He put his phone down, and began to eat.

Silence took over as we ate. I racked my brains to find a topic that would make an interesting conversation. Nothing came out.

"It was good...the pasta." Baekhyun said as he wiped his mouth with a napkin and got up.

"Oh..ok...glad you liked it..." I said as I watched him go upstairs.

I glumly cleaned up the dishes again. If I really had nothing to do, do I really have to spend the rest of the break cleaning up after him.
