"This way to the corner store!" TwoBit said, as if I didn't already know. "What was that all about?" I asked, jogging to keep up. "Nothin. Darry was just bein annoying." He said, and I nodded. We were in silence until we got to the corner store. "Here it is!" He exclaimed. I rolled my eyes. "Duh, TwoBit. I've been here with you before." I stated, and he rolled his eyes. "No duh, but the last time you were here, you were sick, and you passed out later. I was making sure you didn't lose your memory." He teased, and I smirked. "I was here after then, Two. In case you lost your memory." He rolled his eyes. We laughed as we walked into the store, and wandered aimlessly around. The manager kept an eye on us, and he told us to get out, because last time we were here a bunch of Kools went missing. So we left, but TwoBit had another set of Kools in his jacket. We stopped dead outside my house. "Whatcha wanna do?" He asked, and I shrugged.
TwoBits POV
"Whatcha wanna do?" I asked, and Pony shrugged. I could tell he didn't wanna do anything. "Wanna go to the lot?" I asked, and he shrugged. "Haven't been to the lot in like forever." He said in a quiet voice. "What, like a year?" I asked. Why does it matter? "The last time I went to the lot, was the night Johnny murdered Bob." He said, and I sighed. That was why. "Why don't we just go back to your house." I suggested, and he nodded. When we got back to the house, we both collapsed on the couch. I looked at the clock, and saw that it was only 10:45. We started scrolling through the channels, and then the phone rang. I groaned, and got up to get it. "Hello?" I said into the receiver. "Hey." I heard Steve say from the other line. "Did Soda leave yet?" He asked, and I stood there, in shock. "Yeah. An hour ago." I said in a shocked voice. "Are you serious? Well, I'm at the DX now, and he ain't here." Oh glory. "Ok. So, me and Pony are gonna go look for him, stay there and call if he comes to the DX." I said, trying to stay calm. "Ok." I could hear the panic in Steve's voice too. "Bye." I said, and hung up. "What's up?" Pony asked lazily from the couch. "Soda ain't at work. He never showed up." I said, and the panic in Ponyboy's eyes said it all. "Do you know how to get to Steve's house from here?" He asked, getting off the couch. I nodded. "Then let's walk to Steve's house, and see if we see him on the way." Ponyboy said. "Ok." I said, and we left the house. I turned right, and he followed. We looked left and right all the way to Steve's house, and I was starting to lose hope. I was thinking we were going to have to look somewhere else, when I heard Ponyboy exclaim, "Soda!" In a relieved voice. I looked at where he was staring, and saw Soda sitting on a curb, flicking his switchblade open and closed with one hand, and clutching his knee with the other. We both ran over to him, and he looked up when he heard us. "Soda." I said, and he put his switchblade back in his pocket. "Hey." He mumbled, still holding his knee. "Are you okay?" Ponyboy asked softly, sitting down next to Soda. "Yep." He said, then winced. "Just peachy." I rolled my eyes. "What happened? Steve called us at work and said you never showed up." I asked him, and he sighed. "Socs." He mumbled, and I growled. "What happened?" I growled. He mumbled something inaudible, and took his hand away from his knee. From next to him, I heard Ponyboy give a muffled gasp.
