"So, you think it's safe to go back yet?" Ponyboy asked me 10 minutes later. We've been sitting at the lot. "I ain't a mind reader. I hope so, but if we walk in on fighting, I'm not just gonna walk out this time." I declared, and the two of us got up. We slowly walked to the house. We both stood at the door, just looking at it. "Well, the good news is that we don't hear screaming." Ponyboy said, and he opened the door. We stepped inside. Nothing. We walked in on nothing. I looked uncertainly at where Soda was sitting on the couch. He had the same bored look on his face he had when we left.  "So you finished your homework?" Soda said in a bored voice. "Umm, yep." I said. Crap, forgot about that lie. "Y'all are horrible liars." He said in that same bored tone. "I'm not an idiot. I know you just wanted to leave me here with him." He said, looking straight at us. I looked around the room. "Don't worry, he ain't in here."  He said, sitting up straight. "Fine. What happened?" Ponyboy asked, and Soda groaned. "Nothing! And it's driving me insane." He complained. "What do you mean?" I asked. Why is it driving him insane when nothing's happening. "I don't know anything! I'm not used to this, ok? I don't even remember the last time I've fought with anybody in my family. I just don't get it." He looked so helpless, sitting there in a cast. "I'm sure it'll all be over soon." Ponyboy said, trying to calm him. Soda rubbed a hand down his face. "Yeah, ok." He mumbled. "Oh, and by the way, you suck at lying." He added as an afterthought. "Pony did his homework already, and I don't see you caring." He smirked. I rolled my eyes. "Yeah yeah." I grumbled, and I sat down on the couch next to him. Suddenly, the door banged open. Steve walked in the room, looking more happy then I've seen him in a long time. "Glory, Soda! You scared the crap out of me." He exclaimed, walking over to us.
Sodas POV
"Glory, Soda! You scared the crap out of me." Steve exclaimed as he walked over to us. He shot a glare at TwoBit, before looking at me. "Now, answer the question." He demanded. I sighed. "Nothing." I mumbled. "Stop. Saying. Nothing! It ain't gonna work." Steve growled, glaring at TwoBit for some reason. "Nothing." I said, stressing the word. "Yeah. Sure. Just like nothing happened last night." He said, crossing his arms. "Nothing happened ok? It was awkward, that's about it. Now, stop annoying me. I'm injured." I said in an annoyed tone. Steve rolled his eyes. "Fine." He grumbled, plopping himself down on the couch. "So, what happens with the socs?" He asked, and I felt TwoBit perk up. "Yes. Tell." He demanded. I rolled my eyes. "What there to tell? I was walking to Steve's house, a blue mustang pulls up, five socs came out, jumped me." I muttered. "Do you know who it was?" TwoBit asked, and I shook my head. "Damn it. If you did, we could have killed some socs." Ponyboy said. "The only thing I know is that it wasn't the 'super soc' that you claim isn't a soc." I said. Ponyboy rolled his eyes. "How are you supposed to do... anything?" Steve asked. I shrugged. "I mean, I can walk with crutches, I can work the counter at the DX, we aren't supposed to walk alone anyway, so I just won't walk at all." I mumbled. "Oh yeah, boss man wasn't in today, so he doesn't know you didn't show." Steve said, and I perked up. "Good." I grinned. For a second, it felt like everything (other than the fact that my leg was broken) was back to normal. Boy was I wrong.
