"Hey Jack," I yelled, "I got another fish!"
"That's...cool," he hollered back.
Although the other 2 didn't care, I was impressed with myself. I was becoming a very skillful fisher. Today was interesting though because there was some blood in the river. It was flowing down out towards the ocean. Something must've bled into the river. Anyway, I carried the fish back to the camp, and I set it with the pile of fish and decided to take a break. It was a bit after lunchtime so I decided to start cooking one of the fish. When I finished cooking it, I decided to see if the traps got something. I know it had only been a day, but I was so excited about the progress we were making. The trap in the first trap area was gone, and the net was on the ground. As I inspected it, I noticed the net was cut open. A chill ran up my spine as I saw a large amount of blood gone around where the bear trap should've been. It must've been a someone and not an animal. I saw small amounts of blood leading in one direction. Someone or something was moving but leaving a trail. Whatever it was, was losing blood, and needed help soon, or they could die. I closely followed the trail of blood. The blood looked like it wasn't there long, and I hoped I could find whatever I was chasing. The blood piles became increasingly bigger as the whatever I was following lost more blood. The blood came to a halt as I was astonished by what I saw. I saw Dom laying up against a tree. The bear trap around his leg as his foot was barely hanging on.
"Dom! I thou-thought you di-died on the boat," I stuttered.
I realized he was unconscious.
"I'm going to get you home. Stay with me," I declared even though he couldn't hear me.
I used all over my strength to pick him up as my adrenaline rushed through my body. Once I had him over my shoulder, I took a look around. I realized I had lost my way. I had to get back soon or I could lose him. Quickly I searched my mind for any way to get back. Then I thought of an idea. First I followed the blood trail back to the bear trap location. Once I was there, I was able to find my way back. Max and Jack were at the camp when I got back. I laid Dom down and collapsed from the pain.
"He needs help!" I yelled.
Max and Jack rushed over and dragged him into the tent. I sat there with my hands covered in blood. I saved him, but I didn't know he was out here for all this time. What if others survived? I focused more on my bloody hands. I heard some screams in the distance, but I was sure it was only my imagination. Looking back at my hands I began to think more. We were the reason but the savior at the same time.
