Chapter 2: Swimming Lessons (Brandon's POV)

Everyone just started running in different directions when the boat started sinking. Since I got up, Dom and Robby followed me. I lost visual of everyone else except Dom and Robby. We stayed on the bottom deck of the boat. We had to find a way out. But first we had to grab some stuff so we could survive after we left. We grabbed our backpacks and the stuff in it but we wanted to get as much as possible.

"Yo guys lets stuff our backpacks with as much stuff as possible," I demanded.

We moved as fast as we could to get the different useful things. Then the boat began shaking. I could hear the engines getting louder and louder. The boat began tilting back and forth. There was an opening that we could escape through. We had to move soon. But would we be too late?

Then I heard Dom say "Look there is an island we can swim to over there." 

We all nodded and finished looking for stuff. The engines were louder and louder. Then something really bad happened. The engines caught and fire. They started exploding. The explosion knocked us back. We landed on the ground. This caused a small fire that was quickly put out by the water. The explosion tore a hole in the boat. The boat was sinking even faster. We all heard a scream. We began to panic. We stood up and ran to the edge of the boat.

Dom joked, "You guys know how to swim right?"

I replied "I took swimming lessons in 1st grade. I'm fine."

The water was consuming the boat. It was flowing through the opening. We all jumped and swam towards the beach. I swam as fast as I could to get away from the sinking ship. When we made it to the beach we turned around and saw just the floating remains and small parts. The main part of the ship, or what was left of it, sank. We became extremely sad. A tear or 2 rolled down our face, but we quickly covered it up. We sat on the beach for a while and thought about our dead family and friends. We knew that they must've been dead. No one could survive something like that. We recovered quickly and started trudging into the forest which covered most of the island. We took our stuff and began on our not so grand adventure.
