All eyes are on me as I strut inside the large hundred story building in which Zayn handles his business in. He asked me specifically to meet him here for lunch.
The secretary doesn't even bother asking me for my name as I walk past her. I flick my hair as my heels click against the floor sharply with a huge smile on my face, a group of young men in suits whistles at me as I enter the elevator and I smirk.
Today's the first day I've been let out of the house, Tony was very cautious with bringing me here.
Last night, I slept so soundly in Zayn's arms. For the first time, I woke up with a dream instead of a nightmare. I'm starting to actually fall for him, and this time I don't have the constant fear of being figured out or acting like someone I'm not.
Of course, there is the fear that my sociopath ex-boss is holding my best friend captive and I can't do anything about it, but I'm trying to handle one thing at a time.
When I'm led inside Zayn's spacious office, the smile on my face quickly disappears as soon as I see Valentina sitting in the chair opposite from him. She shows him something on her laptop while bending over so her cleavage is on display and he seems very interested until I clear my throat. She turns away from him and eyes me with hatred. Ever since Zayn told me she was his ex I've been extra cautious around her. Unfortunately, she's still helping us with Iris's case and every time we see each other, well let's just say if looks could kill we'd both be dead by now.
"Oh, you have a visitor." She fakes a smile at me.
I ignore her presence completely and walk up to Zayn in my tight dress. His eyes take me in and he licks his lips. He pulls me on top of his lap and kisses me hello. I kiss him much deeper than he intended and make sure that she gets a good view of my tongue inside of his mouth. "I'm sorry, did I interrupt something?" I ask, innocently.
"Not at all Val was just leaving." He mumbles while pulling me back in to kiss him.
"Yeah, I was." She says pathetically, while exiting the room as the both of us make out in front of her face.
"You look so sexy in this tie." I run my hands down his chest and tug at his belt but he stops me and pulls away for a breath.
"As much as I want this, we need to talk." He clears his throat, as I kiss down his neck.
"We can talk later baby, don't you want to bend me over this desk of yours first?" I purr in his ear and he groans, before squeezing my ass.
"I would love to but I have a meeting right after my lunch princess, and unfortunately that's not enough time to fuck you good and hard like I want to." He kisses me and I let out an exasperated breath.
"Why'd you call me here then?" I snap and he chuckles at how upset I am.
"I've got some new intel on Iris. Val was helping to show me until you came in. It seems that every time she's around you feel the need to jump me." He smirks and I frown.
"I do not." I lie, and pull the laptop close to me to get a good look. A picture of Davina with a much older looking man is shown on the screen. I cover my mouth at the sight of her. She's still trapped in Iris's web, while I'm over here doing nothing about it.
"Dimitri Stamos is one of my biggest drug rivals. We've been competing for territory for the past years. I don't think it's a coincidence that Iris assigned Davina to him." He tells me.
"We need to get her out of there, he looks so monstrous, I don't even want to think of how he's treating her." I say with worry in my voice.
"One step at a time. This guy's not easy to come across, he's ruthless. If we make the same mistake as last time it won't be good for anyone." He warns.
I sigh getting up off his lap and walking over towards the large windows of his office showing a clear view of the city. I watch as the people run around the busy streets looking like tiny specks. He up as well and stands behind me. He moves my hair to one side and kisses my bare neck making me close my eyes.
"Do you ever wish you could be normal, like those people down there?" I ask him.
"Those people are miserable, broke, and powerless. I'd rather be where I am." He says.
"I bet they don't have to fear for their lives every second of the day." I add.
"Everyone has their own demons, love. Don't be fooled so easily."
