My eyes watch Anaya closely as she pours herself some dark coffee in a mug and takes a seat. She carefully sips the steamy drink and looks across the table at me with a weirded expression on her face.
"Stop staring at me." She blurts, and I clear my throat.
"Has Killian been talking to you recently?" I ask her in a low voice. She coughs a bit and swallows her drink down quickly.
"No, why?" She questions.
"Just curious," I mumble.
I can tell she's hiding something from me, and I've yet to figure out what it is. I won't tolerate no more lies from her. She and Killian have been acting weird for the past couple weeks. When she enters a room, he leaves and vice versa. I thought Killian was just messing with me, but something tells me they've had a strange encounter before that I have no knowledge of. My brain lists all the worse possibilities in my head but I want to hear her say it instead.
We're interrupted by the front door opening and Tony and Scarlet entering shortly after with heavy crates in their hands. Scarlet claps her hands together before popping open the top and pulling out an AK-47 in her hands. "Come to mama." She grins.
"I'm assuming you picked up the new shipment of guns that was scheduled for today?" I ask them and Tony nods.
"Yep, It's all here boss."
"Wow." Anaya picks up the largest one and runs her delicate fingers over the black barrel in awe. I try to ignore how hot she looks while holding it. She struggles to lift it due to its weight and I easily grab it from her hands.
"Careful. These aren't toys." I scold her and she frowns. "Get these in the armory, and afterwards you can continue training." I tell Scarlet. Anaya smiles at me and the two disappear towards the basement. Once the coast is clear I pull Tony aside. "Did you find anything?" After I realized that my paranoia was getting the best of me I had Tony do some digging about why Killian is really here.
"More than I thought, you're not going to like it one bit." He mentions, before pulling out a USB which I'm assuming has some dirt on it. I follow him up to my office and close the door before pulling out my laptop.
"I found these records of him trying to buy out the Nirvana." He pulls up some classified documents on the computer. The Nirvana is the name of one of my most popular clubs downtown. It's always been incredibly successful since the day I first opened it. I feel a burning sensation of irritation. He's always criticized me for leaving the family business and now that I've made something of myself he's trying to take it away from me. "How am I just finding out about this?" I snap.
"It was under wraps and he made a deal to keep it secret." He explains. Whoever gave him a deal on my club will be dead by tomorrow morning. "They met at this bar to negotiate the price. I wanted to see which one of our employees would go behind your back so I bribed the owner for the security footage." He plays the video.
"You know what to do." I clench my jaw, and Tony nods.
"That's not all sir," He says uneasily. He speeds up the video to when Killian and the man finally wrap things up. A couple hours later a woman walks in and takes a seat beside him. They start talking and laughing and I watch closely as he flirts with her. They eventually start drinking and she begins to lose her self consciousness.
"So what?" I ask, impatiently.
"Keep watching." He tells me before pausing the video and zooming in on the woman's face. I furrow my brows when I start to recognize her features. It's as if my eyes are deceiving me. It's Anaya.
"How the fuck-?" I ask myself.
"This is the same night she left the house. Coincidentally she stopped at this bar that was right across the hotel she was staying at." I can barely think straight as the voices in my head laugh at me for being so naive. I fast forward the video until the end, to which I watch him wrap his arm around her waist and they exit the bar, leaving me to assume what happened shortly after. I slam the laptop shut furiously and get out of my seat. I storm down the hall to the room Killian was staying in, only to find it empty. My heart pounds irrationally as I rush down the stairs. I'm just in time when I find him about to exit the back door.
"Leaving so soon?" I ask in a taunting voice. His back faces me and he doesn't dare to turn around.
"Well it's been nice and all but I think it's time for me to head back to the city." He says, about to turn the doorknob until Tony pulls out his gun and points it to his head. "Don't take another step." He warns him.
"Woah woah woah, what's going on?" Killian asks, cluelessly.
"You tell me, brother." I say in a deep voice. The tension is thick and the silence is even deadlier. He chuckles and raises his hands in surrender. We're face to face, the only sound being my harsh breathing.
"What were you doing at a bar in Brooklyn three weeks ago?"
"Is this an interrogation?" He raises a brow.
"Answer the fucking question and maybe I'll decide not to put a bullet in you." I hiss.
"Based off of the gun in your hand I'm assuming you already know?" He trails off slowly. "I had a business meeting and afterwards I met a beautiful lady who seemed troubled, so I decided to help her." He grins, knowing that he's striking a nerve. Before I can control myself my hands are around his throat squeezing like my life depends on it. Rage blinds me and I can't seem to think of anything other than him touching Anaya. My Anaya, she was the only thing I had that he didn't. But of course, he had to take that too. He gasps for air and coughs up a struggled laugh.
"How dare you go behind my back, try to mess up my business, screw my woman and have the audacity to come into my house and face me?" I shout, before punching him hard in the face. He doubles over in pain and grabs the wall to regain his balance.
"In my defense, I had no idea who she was, but I guess the world works in weird ways." He shrugs before shoving me back and kicking me in the gut. I charge at him and throw him hard against the table causing it to fall over in a loud crash. I keep throwing punches at him until my knuckles turn numb. Years of pent up anger towards him comes out all at once and I can't seem to stop it.
He grabs a nearby bottle of liquor and smashes it against the side of my head causing a painful gash to form. I snatch a chair laying on the floor and throw it against the wall, before picking up one of the broken legs and striking it against his head, hard. He spits out blood and before I can retaliate, pulls out his own gun at me. Tony and I both pull our's as well, not even seconds later and he looks at the both of us, deciding his next move.
"You wouldn't shoot your own brother would you?"
"Try me." I say, and grit my teeth.
In the midst of all the destruction, the girls enter the room abruptly, with widened eyes looking around at the mess. "What the hell is going on here?" Anaya yells, and in her eyes I can see that a part of her already knows.
