Chapter Three:The Pollywog

   The next morning, I woke up to Mom saying,"Jesus. Have you seen them?" Johnathan said,"We're looking Mom." Will said,"Yeah, we're looking." I padded out of my room in my bare feet, and heard Bob say,"Aha! Found em." Mom said,"Oh." I walked into the living room, and saw Bob hand Mom her keys. He said,"Found em hiding under some jeans, the sneaky little buggers." Mom kissed Bob on the cheek, and said,"Thank you. Thank you. You're a life saver." Mom asked Johnathan,"Can you take Will to school? I cannot be late again." I asked,"What do I do, Mom?" She said,"Oh, uh...You can go with Will...I told the principal of the high school you're back, and he has to do some paperwork, so you can go with Will today...Okay?" I said,"Sounds fun...I get to hang out with Will the Wise and his fellow travelers." Johnathan asked,"He's staying over now?" Mom sighed,"Can you just take Will and Sarah to school, please?" Bob said,"I can take them." Mom asked,"Will you make sure they get in okay?" Bob said,"Yeah, of course. What do you say, big guy, and punk girl? Wanna take a ride in the Bobmobile?" I raised an eyebrow, and said,"Only if you stop calling me punk girl..." Bob said,"Deal", and shook my hand..

    I changed into a long sleeved black shirt, red leather pants, and my leather jacket and combat boots...Then, Will sat in the passenger seat, and I sat in the backseat. After driving for a few minutes, Bob asked Will,"Was that you I heard milling about last night, or was it a ghost?" Will said,"It was probably me." Bob asked,"Another nightmare?" Will said,"Uh..No." Bob asked,"Did I ever tell you about Mr. Baldo?" Will laughed a little, and asked,"Mr. Baldo?" Bob said,"Yeah. I was a little younger than you, standing in line for the Ferris Wheel at the Roane County Fair. And suddenly, I feel this fat white glove tap me on the shoulder. And I spin around, and there he is. Mr. Baldo." I zoned out a bit, until he said,"Well, I fell asleep, and Mr. Baldo came to me. Only this time, I didn't run. This time, I stood my ground. I just looked Mr. Baldo in his stupid face, and said,"Go away. Go away!", and just like that, he was gone. Never saw him again. Easy-peasy, right?" I muttered,"If the nightmare isn't you..." Will said,"Easy-peasy." Bob snapped his fingers,"Just like that." Bob asked,"So, Sarah? What's your story? I hear they thought you were dead..Some accident or something." Memories flashed back, and I said,"I don't want to talk about it..." Bob said,"Okay", and we drove the rest of the way in silence...

  
    We pulled up to the middle school, and climbed out. Bob said,"Have a great day, kiddos", and drove off. I swallowed hard, as everyone stared at me and him, and held his hand...He looked at me confused, and I smiled at him...He smiled back slightly, and we walked into the school together. We sat in Mr. Clarke's classroom, me in front of Will, and Mr. Clarke began talking about someone named Phineas Gage, who had an iron rod driven straight through his skull and survived, with a complete change to his personality..." I felt someone staring at me, and me and Will both turned to see Max quickly turn her head away. Dustin then raced into the classroom, sat down, told Mr. Clarke to continue with the class, and told me, Mike, Will, and Lucas,"We have to meet. A.V. club. At lunch." Mike asked,"Why?" Dustin said,"Because I have something you won't believe." We all nodded, and Dustin turned to Max, and whispered,"A.V. Club. At lunch." Mr. Clarke called,"Dustin." Dustin said,"Yes, my lord?" Mr Clarke asked,"Would you like to join the rest of the class, and Sarah...Now?" I rolled my eyes at me being singled out...Dustin said,"Yes...Please!" Mr. Clarke told him,"Phineas Gage. Page one hundred four." Dustin flipped through his textbook until he found it, turned to Max, and whispered,"A.V. Club." I saw her give a sarcastic thumbs up, then turned my head back to the lesson...The room flickered around me, and suddenly, I was sitting in the Upside Down...This was supposed to happen to my brother...Not me...My breath sped up, as I saw the Shadow Monster looming over me, and then, it said,"Sarah...." I felt my blood run cold, and closed my eyes...When I opened them again, class was over, and Will was staring at me...Mike said,"You're..Uh...Bleeding..." He pointed at his nose, and I grabbed a tissue, wiping away the blood with trembling hands. I walked out of the classroom, ignoring their looks...
