The two other boys stared at me and Will in shock and fear, and I rode with them to Mike's house after grabbing some clean clothes, my dripping hair falling into my eyes. I heard the three boys following behind me silently, and opened the front door, leaving it open for them, then headed to the bathroom, trying hard not to let the haunting terror wash over me, knowing that if I did that, I'd never be able to protect my friends, family, and El from what was here with us. I peeled off my wet clothes, and silently stepped into the shower, then turned the water on medium heat, gasping with pain, as it actually burned my skin. I instantly switched it to cold water, watching my hands shake with fear, and let more tears fall, wondering why I was starting to feel more and more monster than human.
As soon as I finished my shower, I pulled on a long sleeved red shirt, and black pants, stopping as I passed the mirror. I slowly looked into it, and blinked, images of Billy's hands around my throat, and the Mind Flayer stomping through the warehouse flashing through my mind. I jumped, as a hand gently touched my shoulder, and whirled around to see Mike standing there. "Sorry..I knocked, and you didn't answer, so I came to check on you." I whispered, "I'm fine", and stared into the mirror for a few more seconds, watching my eyes flash black, before pushing past him, and going to the living room. I sat down on the couch, as far away from the boys as possible, able to smell the intoxicating scent of their blood, and closed my eyes, breathing faster. Lucas' voice seemed to come from far away, as he said, "Sarah isn't looking so good..Maybe we should let her get some rest, and try and reach the girls in the morning." Will whispered in my ear, "Sarah, I know you're scared..So are we..But you need rest, more than we do..Please, just try and get some sleep, okay?"
I nodded, and slowly laid down on the couch, falling asleep almost instantly, and soon found myself back at the warehouse, standing in the shadows. I could hear screams and growling from the other room, the one where Billy had seen El and grabbed me, and swallowed hard, as Billy himself appeared in front of me. He whispered, "You're becoming one of us, Sarah. You belong to me. Only me. You will join us..It's in your blood. You can't fight it, you can't run, and you can't hide. Wherever you are, whatever you do, I can see you. Six months ago, I touched you, and I saw the darkness inside of you. You're not one of them..And soon, you'll be home.." He vanished, and I began crying, terrified, then froze, slowly turning, as the low growling came from behind me. The black figure of the Mind Flayer loomed over me, and as I took a step back, it roared, its mouth opening wide, and I screamed, closing my eyes..
I shot up on the couch, breathing hard, and crying, and felt blood drip from my nose. Will looked at me, and whispered, "It's happening again, isn't it? You can see him.." I stayed silent, swallowing hard, and looked at the floor, not sure how to answer that question, confusion and fear overwhelming everything else, making my head spin. Lucas sighed, holding his Supercomm, and yelled, "Hello? Is there anybody there? This is a Code Red! I repeat, this is a Code Red! Max! Do you copy?? This. Is. A. Code. Red!" Max's voice replied, "Shut. Up." Static sounded seconds later, signaling that she'd gone radio silent, and we all sighed, looking at each other. Lucas whispered, "She turned it off", and I slowly stood up, wiping the blood from my nose, telling myself to ignore what I kept hearing and seeing in that warehouse, and focus on what mattered most; Keeping the people I loved safe, and finding out what exactly we were dealing with.
Mike walked over to the phone, and punched in Max's number, listening for a second as she yelled at him. "This is Mike. Do not hang up! Something happened, something bad! Our very lives could be at stake!" I heard her ask, "What are you talking about?" Mike looked at me, then Will, and replied, "Just come over to my house. We'll explain everything." Max asked, "What?" He said, "Hurry", and put the phone back on the receiver. He turned to Lucas, and said, "Try Dustin again." Lucas replied, "He's not answering." Mike repeated, "So try him again." Lucas spoke into the Supercomm, "Dustin, do you copy? I repeat, this is a Code Red!" There was no reply, and Lucas sighed, setting the Supercomm down. "Now what?" Mike said, "We wait for Max and El, and then, we figure this out together." I began walking towards his bathroom, and felt dizzy again, managing to catch myself on the wall. Mike called, "Are you okay??" I nodded, and replied, "Fine..I'm fine. Just need to use the bathroom.."
