Toby's POV

I ran away from the hotel, I don't wanna go back there ever again. Masky treats me like a child! I'm 19! I'm not a stupid child like I was before. I've grown up so much and I'm not willing to deal with someone who treats me like I'm not. If he thinks he's so grown up, he can just do it by himself, because I'm done helping him! He never wanted me, he never wanted me to begin with. Why should I even bother?
I continued to run until I couldn't anymore, the blazing hot sun beating my skin harshly as sweat dripped from my face. I looked over to see an alleyway with some shade and I quickly walked over for cover. I sat down and rested my back on the cool brick walls in the darkness. My eyes closing and my breath slowing a little so I could catch the air.
I felt a little bit more energized when I stood up, but I suddenly felt a firm grip on my shoulder. It felt exactly like Masky's... knowing how I am, I stiffened and turned around harshly swatting away the impulsive hand that had grabbed me. I looked up to see someone wearing a mask, but it most certainly wasn't Masky.
The mask was a dark blue one with red eyes and black dots for the pupils. It's smile— oh the smile was unpleasant. It's smile was wide, so wide, it looked as if it was gonna cut the mask in half. The color was dark, darker than pitch and the painted residue resembling blood just made it look much less welcoming.
"Hey lil boy, what'ya doin' in a place like 'ere?" The man said, his voice was viperish and raspy. I took a step back.
"Nothing! It's just-." I was cut off rudely by the sound of immense laughter coming from them. They heard my stutter and most likely think I'm scared.
"Ah... the little retard is scared, huh?" Those words cut my skin deep like a knife. I felt so heartbroken by that word. I remember all those bullies calling me that... I remembered so much... "Look at him sit here all scared... he should be more worried about his partner back at the hotel." My eyes widened as I stared at the thugs in shock.
"How... how do you know about Masky?!?!" I hissed. I felt something hit me harshly in the back and I fell onto my stomach. I looked back to see someone with a crowbar who had the most twisted smile. His blonde hair swinging brightly as green eyes piercing mine.
"Your friend won't last long unless you hurry up and get there." His voice was deep and raspy, with a dark tone in it.
"Who are you people?" I growled harshly.
"We're no more than friends with Lucifer himself." They must be Satanic worshippers or something, but this doesn't explain what happened! How do they know about Masky?!? I pushed myself up from the ground and quickly took out my hatchets.
"You guys are gonna pat for that little stunt you pulled on me!" I threw one of my hatchets at the masked man. He dodged it and ran straight at me. I positioned myself accordingly. The masked man flung his fist at me and I grabbed it and flipped him over. I kicked him to the blonde and sprinted to my other hatchet while the two were recovering. I picked up my hatchet and aimed at the blonde's head then thrusting my weapon. It split his head in half as the first male went limp. I walked over and picked up the mask man. He trembled slightly but gave a sinister chuckle.
"You've wasted too much time on us, hurry up before he dies." He said. I unmasked the figure to only see he was a faceless man. His head was pitch black and there were no distinct features on his face. I yelled in terror as I dropped the man and ran to the hotel.

I practically rammed myself into the door as I cried out Masky's name. There was no response, but I continued to look. I ran everywhere until I went inside the bedroom. There sat Masky tied up and unconscious. A man with brown hair and glasses stood there with a gun to my partners head. I didn't know who he was, was he even the target?
"Look who's here Tim. Your little apprentice." He said with an ominous voice. I growled and spoke up.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Alex, and your friend here, he and I go way back. We have some unfinished business."
"W-what?!" I looked at the so called 'Alex'. I was shocked he knew Masky's real name.
"I vowed to kill Tim... and here he is... you're the only one in my way."
"Please! Don't kill him!" I sighed and looked at Alex. "I'll do anything you ask if you let him live."
     "Anything?"
"Anything..." The stranger smirked and slapped Masky. He then jolted awake from the harmful contact.
"Ach... what the??" My partner looked around then his eyes widened as he looked at Alex. "It can't be...."
"Give me the location of the mansion, or else he dies." My eyes widened and I looked to Masky.
     "T-Toby?"
"Not now Tim." I said growling at Alex.
"What's it gonna be?" At that moment everything stopped... I was the only one who could move. I looked around and everything just looked gray. What should I choose?! Masky?! Or... my family... I felt as if tears were gonna appear, but I shook my head... I have to make up my mind... I need to remember I am a proxy in the making... I do what I have to... and at this point, this is where my training has come into use... I looked up at Alex and took a deep breath, I readied myself and smiled softly at Masky. I lowered my mouth guard to speak clearly.
     "I have made my decision."
