"I'm assuming you don't know who I am, so I'll introduce myself" the kid attacked me as I walked out of the class; he reached for my elbow and turned me towards him. I stared up at him in shock no one has talked to me intentionally for 18 months and yet he's been here for just over an hour and already he is trying to- to, I don't know be my friend?

This guy confuses the hell out of me.

I studied his face and with a smirk he started to say,

"I'm Hay-"But I turned away and walked to my next class. His voice trailed off as I disappeared into the crowd. I am aware it was rude but since when have I cared?

I walked into my algebra class and to the desk I then spread my things across. I sat and started doodling in the margins of my note book. The teacher tried miserably to call the class to attention. He was a meek little man, a complete push over; the students were constantly walking all over him. I was sitting there quietly waiting for the class to get semi-silent and for him to start when a girl confidently entered the class and loudly cleared her throat. The class fell silent immediately causing our teacher Mr. Mathews to turn and face the door looking for the cause of the silence.

When the girl noticed she had not only the teachers but the student's attention, she beamed and strutted to the front of the room to hand Mr. Mathews her slip. Once I had gotten over the awe she had caused I realized the only free desk was the one next to me.

Shit.

Looks like I'll have to talk to her and I can tell all ready that she is going to talk to me. "Take a seat over there next to Rosie, Miss Knight"

Man, how many new kids can a school get in one day?

Hang on, Miss Knight? That can't be a too common name and now that I think about it she does look very similar to Lucas Knight. He's the quiet, calculating one in his group of obnoxious womanizers. Despite that he definitely earns his place in the group.

"Hi, I'm Ellie" the girl announces, with a cheeky grin on her face. I can see all ready she has an attitude, not unlike mine. I have a feeling I could like her if I let myself.

As I sat there my jaw on the ground, she continued,

"You're Rosie right? Wow, I have heard so much about you! I am so glad I got a seat next to you I have always wanted to meet you!"

Oh my god, she said this all in one breathe.

"Huh?" I said, like the intelligent person I am.

"Oh my God! I am so sorry, I must be creeping you out" she gushed.

"A little" I murmured.

"Sorry, It's just I'm Lucas Knight's sister, he and his friends talk about you quite a bit." I knew it. Hang on, what?

"They talk about me?" Since when do they talk about me?

"Yeah, and everything I heard was good, in my opinion anyway, but they're idiots."

"When you say in your opinion, what exactly does that mean?"

"Oh right, it basically means, you got attitude and don't take any shit, I like that."

I think I'm going to like this girl, Ellie. She may be Lucas's sister but as far as I've seen she's nothing like him.

She's also not like any of the other girls here or she wouldn't be talking to me.

Actually, it seems as if we are similar. She's just louder, more outgoing, and, dare I say it, less violent. Maybe change can do me some good.

"If you want to share more about what your brother and his idiots say about me, there's a table out in the courtyard that you can join me at?" I asked, hang on, I've known this girl like 10 minutes if that and already I'm talking more than ever, and asking her to sit with me? What just happened?

"Sure, I love to make him look stupid. I can't wait" came her reply.

Now that lunch arrived I walked to the table, surprised to see that it was deserted, maybe things won't change?

Maybe I will be by myself again. I folded myself onto the bench and dug around in my backpack for my lunch.

Yeah, my mom makes it, snobby bitch, but she's an excellent cook.

Also seeing as there is never anyone around to criticize, it doesn't bother me.

Apparently this is going to be just another normal lunch, me and my music. I pull my iPhone out of my pocket and tune out the world as I take the first mouthful of my pasta salad.

Mm my mother is too good of a cook for my liking. She makes it hard to hate her.

I was about to take another bite when I caught a flash of movement to my left. I turned to see Ellie grinning at me.

"Hey, sorry I'm late, had to grab some money for lunch off Lucas" she explained. "So, my last period was shit, what was yours like" she asked.

"Just as shit,my dickwad of a teacher gave me a 400 word essay on "Why I should not be late to class" then in an attempt to humiliate me some cheerleaders tried to sabotage my project, yet with a few prompts they turned against each other and a couple left crying. So all in all, it was a pretty uneventful geography class." I finished, grinning.

Ellie's face during my short speech was growing in amusement to the point that when I had finished she was clutching her sides.

"Ha-ha, no - fricken - way!" she gasped between her fits of laughter. "That was uneventful? I would be lucky to get that in a week! Maybe it's just me? Maybe I'm boring?" She sighed, her lips turning down at the corners.

Now it was my turn to laugh. Ellie looked at me like I was nuts.

She's not wrong.

"I cannot believe you think you're boring" I said in a shocked voice "You are the first person I have willingly talked to in 18 months and you think you're boring?"

I swear if she thinks she's boring then she must know some pretty out there people.

"Well, yeah. I truly never do anything!" Ha well wait till she joins me in some of the things I get up to. I do admit things will be a lot more interesting now seeing as she's around.

"Anyway, seeing as it's a Friday, you are going to come and meet my friends!" Ellie announced.

"Meet your friends?" I asked quietly, you see me and people usually don't mix.

"Yeah, they're a lot like me, although possibly louder except for one, trust me, you'll fit right in!" Ellie said, excited.

"Fine, I'll come." I surrendered; I knew she wouldn't give in till I agreed.

"But be at my house at half seven, I'm going to need your help okay?" I said quietly. I don't like admitting that I need help with something but without it tonight I would be screwed.

"Okay!" Ellie said happily as she jumped up. "I have to organize!" she said quickly "I'll see you at 7:30!" she said over her shoulder as she walked away.
