Still on Hayden’s back we went straight through the house to the pool where I see the four of them spread out around the pool. Ellie and Mia were lying out next to the pool with Caleb and Ollie bombing, diving and flipping into the deep end.

Caleb’s head bobbed out of the water, he must have been the last to jump.

“Who is this that is carrying my dearest Rosie?” Caleb exclaimed and jumped out of the pool as if he was going to challenge Hayden to a duel.

“Nobody dare piggybacks her but me!” Caleb was so indignant that I couldn’t help but to giggle.

Hayden had such a confused expression, when all of a sudden when Caleb was a few feet away from us, Hayden actually dropped  me and went to stand a few inches from Caleb and study his face for a second before all of a sudden yelling each other’s names and jumping into a man hug.

It was Ellie’s turn to be confused.

“You two know each other?” Ellie asked, beating the rest of us to the question

“Yes! We were best friends until I moved away when I was thirteen!” Hayden practically yelled at Ellie.

I picked myself up off the ground with a grimace, rubbing my butt.

“Hayden, you know you want to start doing childish things and I know you will in a fraction of a second, so here is me saying, hurry the fuck up, so we can move on” I grinned at Hayden and before I knew it I was the filling of a Hayden, Caleb sandwich and little did I know at the time that it would be the first of thousands.

I wriggled my way out from between them and wandered over to Ellie and Mia,

“This is certainly going to make things interesting” I muttered as I glanced at Caleb and Hayden who were currently running around in circles after each other.

Ellie laughed “And you didn’t want me to invite him, how could you deprive Caleb of that happiness Rosie? Even you’re not that cold!”

“You have to watch yourself; otherwise I may take offense to that” I said in reply to Ellie’s smug smirk. I stripped down to my togs to sunbathe with Ellie and Mia.

I saw Ollie and Caleb a fraction of a second too late before I felt the now familiar hands on my hips as I was thrown over a shoulder. I had just enough time to hold my breath as I was thrown under water. The hands slid around my bare waist and I cursed to myself for taking my clothes off allowing him to throw me in the pool.

I could hear Ellie’s and Mia’s squealing and giggling in the background, along with Caleb and Ollie’s booming laughter.

I glared at Hayden. “This was your idea wasn’t it?”

“Of course not, it was all Caleb, how could I deprive him of the pleasure.” His smug smile said otherwise.

“I’m going to have to watch you two closely aren’t I?” I sighed at Hayden.

He grinned again, “I sure hope you do although as long as you don’t give Caleb too much attention otherwise I might get jealous and do silly things like this to get your attention back!”

I was just about to ask what when my head was under water again. I decided to just go with it and stayed down.

I loved the peacefulness if just being under water. It is one of the things I found most relaxing and when I opened my eyes I could see Hayden with me. He reached out and grabbed my hand, and for those ten seconds we were holding hands under the water. I felt truly peaceful. The mixture of the water and his touch had completely erased the grief from earlier.  I have no idea how or why he has this effect on me.
