Azra

I felt cold.

The cold was in every part of my body. It seeped in through my clothes. And it was raining. Why me.

I ran to a bus shelter, nearly tripping over my long skirt in the process. I brought out my phone and texted my dad to pick me up. My hijab dripped water onto my phone.  As I texted, two girls walked towards the shelter. One was tall and blonde, like a cheerleader. The other had black hair, probably dyed. They definitely not from my school.

I wouldn't have thought anymore of the subject, but then I saw their eyes. Green. Neon green. Weird.

As I sent it, Blondie shouted something to me. "Go back to your own country terrorist!" I sighed. Wonderful.

I stuck my hand into my pocket, where my spare pin was, and walked away from them. Black-hair stepped in front of me and shoved me back. She licked her lips and bared her teeth. Then I noticed that her tongue was forked and her teeth were were jagged.

"She's not normal." Black-hair called to Blondie, voicing my thoughts.

"She's perfect." Blondie added. The duo stepped forward.

I pulled out my pin and pointed it at them menacingly. Or as menacingly as I could, considering it was about the size of my pinkie. The two burst out laughing. If only my pin cold transform into a sword or something. I thought wistfully.

Just then, something miraculous happened. My pin felt heavy, but comfortable. Something metal was around my fist, like a glove or something. I looked at it, and my jaw fell open. My pin had been transformed into a pata. In case you didn't know, a pata is a sword that has a gauntlet-like thing instead of a hilt.

My pata was completely black. The gauntlet had silver henna-like designs all over it and was decorated with tiny emeralds.

I noticed that the snake-duo had stopped laughing. They actually looked scared.

I lifted m pata more menacingly and smirked. "Back off." I ordered, my voice coming out harder than usual. It also sounded weird. Kind of like a hiss.

The pair were looking at me in shock. "Y-you just spoke the ancient language." Blondie stammered. "That shouldn't be possible. Unless..." She shook her head.

"We're incredibly sorry. please don't hurt us." Black-hair whimpered.

I frowned. What was going on? My sword hand faltered and dropped a bit. At that moment, Blondie leaped at me, snarling. I raised the pata just in time and Blondie hit the blade and vaporized, screaming.

Black hair charged at me, hesitant. "I don't want to hurt you." I said in that hissing language.

Black-hair smiled sadly. "But I have to kill you. Or they'll murder my family." She replied.

"I can help."

She shook her head. Then, her eyes went glassy, and she collapsed. I stepped towards her, but she ran at me. I brought up my pata. She completely missed. I turned, and she ran at me again. No. I thought. She's not running at me. She's running for-

The pata. Just as I made the realisation, I knew it was too late. Black-hair hit the blade and vaporized.

"Well, that was a shocker."

I turned around, towards the voice. A boy was standing there. His hair was dark and shaggy. He wore an aviator jacket and black jeans. A silver skull ring was on his finger.

"My name is Nico Di Angelo. And you need to come with me." He said with a smile.

"This isn't possible." I muttered.

"I know it may seem weird, but I need to tell you something important, ok? Try not to faint" He cleared his throat. "The Greek god are real, and you might be a child of them."

I looked up at him. "B-but-"

"But they can't be?" He offered. I nodded. "Why not?"

"Because you're a book character."

There was a silence. A long, tense silence.

"Wait a second, what?"
