Sexy Back

Words: 5479

Summary: Dan leaves for a year and when he returns he's looking damn fine, and Phil notices.

Phil's POV*

I stared from my corner of the classroom as my friends nattered on about god knows what. I saw him sitting there, alone, gaze fixed on the outside world.

Dan Howell was always lonely, it wasn't like nobody liked him but he chose it. He has friends but he only interacts with them every once in a while I've noticed. I probably look like a weirdo just staring at him.

The thing is ... I really like Dan.

still like Dan.

We used to date at the end of primary and halfway through first year of high school. We were naive kids but we've both matured. I wanted to keep our friendship but then I started getting popular and Dan couldn't be bothered with keeping the bond if he rarely saw me.

He was the one that split with me, he told me it was complicated. I'm still not sure what the reason is today but my god ... I still want him. To the average eye he looks plain and nothing out of the ordinary. This is mainly because he hides behind his fringe all the time.

I've seen his proper beauty and I still can. I bet if he pushed his fringe back a bit all the girls would be drooling over him. In fact I can see the looks some of his female friends give him. They've obviously witnessed the gorgeousness of what is Dan Howell.

"Hey Lester, you coming to Carrie's party?" Chris asked me, goofy grin on his face. I grinned back.

"Well of course, I'm always up for it!" I replied. We weren't a cliche popular group, we were popular because people liked us and we were nice back. I wouldn't stay if it meant bullying someone, I'd be disgusted if I ever did.

"Hey did you know Howell is moving to Australia? Lucky bastard, I wish we had sun here-" I didn't listen to the rest because my blood ran cold. Dan? Moving? AUSTRALIA?

That was so far away, I didn't want him to go. I still have to make amends, apologize for any conveniences I could have caused him, try and gain his friendship back! I felt my mood immediately dampen. I've always liked Dan, friend or not and I was heartbroken when we stopped being friends.

Eventually the teacher walked in and we all sat down. "Morning class, now like I told you yesterday we are doing a paired project on animal and plant cells. I need you to make a poster so I can decorate my walls." Mrs Daveys explained with a cheery smile. An audible groan swept across the class at the mention of partners.

"Can we pick our partners?" Chris yelled with his big mouth. I shook my head at him, a smile on my lips.

"No, I think I will pair you up." She smiled. Another groan emitted from almost every person in the room.

"Okay, Jessica and Becky. Chris and Carrie. PJ and Alfie. Marcus and Tyler. Troye and Alex. Dan and Phil. Sam and-" I froze and my eyes went wide. Did I hear correctly? Was I hearing things? I glanced in Dan's direction and saw him visibly tense also as he caught my eye. I was a bit shocked to see those intense eyes once again and found myself unable to move.

When people started moving chairs I just sat there, gawping like a fish. Luckily Chris's hit round the head snapped me out of it and I scowled at him. I then proceeded to pick up my things and move towards Dan's desk. He didn't look at me until I sat down in the seat next to him.

"Hi." I said, hoping for a reaction. He tilted his head and smiled in return before turning his attention to the front of the classroom. God his smile was amazing! I continued to stare for a moment longer before I realized it was probably creepy and listened to the teahcer's instructions.
