ThreeTwo Days Later
Back to Normal
Jailah Christians"Perfect, I like the sound of that. If you could please just remember to email me the highlights from your client's recent football games; I won't mind squeezing in a visitation to the next one within this month. Time's cutting close but I'm willing to make an exception. Alright?"
"Alright Ms. Christians, I am on it as we speak. Have a wonderful day."
"You as well." I hung up the phone and leaned back in my office chair, kicking off my stilettos and closing my eyes for a few minutes.
Today has been one of the most hectic days at the office, with time drawing to a close; I had so much to do in so little time. I was short on talents because most of the boys that had what I was looking for; didn't have the grades to match, which resulted in me having to revoke my offers. I had no time to fly out anywhere with the draft and my best friend's wedding being only a few weeks away, so right now, I was leaving it up to online submissions and faith; to be honest with you.
"Ms. Christians." I heard my assistant Analise buzz over my intercom, groaning, my eyes fluttered open and I hit the talk button.
"Shoot."
"You got three coaches on the line, Western Prep, Archbishop and St. Michaels. They've been trying to get a hold of you all day."
"I know, I know." I rubbed my temples and leaned forward, looking over the pile of paperwork that sat before me then up at the clock above me, it was 6:15 and I had arranged a date with Ericka at 6:30. Knowing her to be the bridezilla she had become, she would not tolerate me being late. "Do me a favor Analise, I gotta get out of here, so have them email me their clients latest highlights, since the three are in the area I will schedule a drop-in time this week."
"Not a problem, also remember that you have a meeting with the Giants tomorrow morning at 9, and you have a lunch date scheduled here with Mr. Beckham Jr."
"Everything's set for the meeting, as for the date... Analise, please stop letting Odell swindle you into squeezing him into my agenda. Let him know that I'm a busy woman and if he spent the same amount of time that he uses to win me over, unto the field; he would win a super bowl." I said then hit the end call on my phone.
I stood to my feet, and stretched out my aching back before gathering all my papers together, placing them in a file then slipping it into my briefcase. I hated taking work home, but with such a demanding job, I had no choice.
I stepped back into my heels, then placed my blazer back on and headed out of the office.
My floor was pretty much empty, most of the employees were gone by 4, leaving just me and Analise or in most cases me, I was known to basically close up the building, sometimes working 13-hour shifts, just to make sure I got my job done. I loved what I did which is why I was so dedicated, especially since I had my eyes on becoming CEO next month when my current one retires. I had a lot writing on me, and I wasn't about to lose.
"Goodnight Ms. Christians." Analise waved, I did the same in return as I made my way to the elevator.
As soon as I got to underground parking, as if on cue the valet leaned against the side of my black C-Class Mercedes Benz. He was one of our younger staff, tried to spit game at me every now and then, which was cute and normally cheered me up before heading home. "Here you go, Ms. C."
"Thank you very much sir." He assisted me in walking over to the driver's side, where he opened the door for me like a gentleman. "I appreciate your help." I said, placing my brief case into the passenger seat, then climbing into mine.
