Breif note, just letting you know I changed Mychal's last name. Since I changed the person playing him.
Anyways enjoy.
Twenty Five
Fiancé
Cairo KnightI got out of the elevator as we hit the ninth floor and to be honest with you; being livid was an understatement. I was beyond pissed to the point where I wanted to strangle someone. I sent Ericka and the girls' home in an Uber because I didn't want them to hear what I was ready to get off my chest.
I turned around the corner and saw Jailah, Mychal and her mother sitting there. Jailah rested her head on Mrs. Christians arm while Mychal sat there, his leg bouncing with nerves. As I entered the waiting room everyone looked over at me. "Thanks for coming man." Mychal said standing up and holding out his hand for me to dap up.
I stared him down and luckily, he got the message, putting his hands down by his side. I then returned my attention to Jailah who refused to look at me, tears streamed down her face. "Just tell me where the hell I gotta go to get this done." I told Mychal, he nodded then gestured for me to follow him but for a moment I just stood there and couldn't look away. "As for you, I'll deal with your ass when I'm finished."
"Hey man. No need for all of that." Mychal chimed in.
"Know your place." I said pointing at him. "At the end of the day, that woman is my wife and that child in there fighting for her life is my daughter. So I'm going to need you to understand that right now; your only task is to shut your mouth and show me where the hell I need to go." He looked over at Jailah but I stood in the way. "Don't look to her pretty boy, I'm talking to your ass."
"You're just lucky this is about Cailah." He said, before walking off. I glanced back at Jailah one more time, shaking my head as I followed behind him.
Mychal brought me to a nursing station and by their eagerness, I could tell that they were awaiting my arrival. "Cairo Knight?" the nurse asked.
"Yes ma'am."
"Perfect. Got some ID on you?"
"Yes." I grabbed my wallet and flashed her my driver's license.
"Thank you very much sir." She pulled out a couple sheets of paper; asking me a few medical questions and stuff about my family's medical history; along with a pen for me to sign. "These are for you. before you proceed, I just want to make sure that you haven't drank or smoked in the last 48 hours."
"Last time I drank was a couple of days ago but I'm a hundred percent sure that it was over 48. I also don't smoke." Unless it was weed, but she didn't need to know that since I hadn't touched that in a minute.
"Alright, and do you know what your blood type is? If not that's fine, we can always check."
"I actually had appointment a few weeks back, they told me I was O positive."
"Perfect match!" She patted the sheets of paper. "Get these completed for me and I'll have you prepped and ready to draw some blood."
I took the pen from her hands and looked over at Mychal who had his arms folded, breathing down my neck. "You can go now." I told him and without any hesitation he shook his head and walked back to the waiting area. Such a chump, I wonder where Jailah got this soft ass man from. I sighed and began to quickly fill out the paper work, double and triple checking everything to make sure that I was correct. As I did so, I couldn't help but just try to process everything, never in my life would I deem her capable of being this selfish. Especially knowing I felt about kids, how much I said I would love and cherish mine when they came. She was so lucky that I couldn't deal with that ass now, baby girl's life was much more important. "I'm finished." I said, handing the papers over to the nurse.
