Twenty Nine
Dad
Kensia Abrams"What kind of dumb ass excuse was that?!" I yelled in Rosa's face as my masked-up cousin stood there holding a knife up to her neck. "I told you to say something that would make him come home. He aint coming for a damn stove!"
Getting in was easier than I thought, since I was a familiar face, Rosa wasn't hesitant to open the door for me. especially since I told her that I had left something in my room. I was assured that all the cameras were off so that was a plus for me. It was finding the ring that was harder than I had expected. We had been here for hours and things just weren't adding up, it was as if the ring wasn't even here.
"He's on his way Ms. Kensia."
"He better or else he's going to have to clean up your blood off of this floor as well!" I spat out. I literally only had ten minutes before my mission was over, and I couldn't have that happen. It wasn't even an option at this point in time. I did all I was supposed to do, I worked my way onto Cairo's good side and he fell for every trick and every trap I had set up. I was literally so close, yet I felt so very far away.
The house was a whole mess, I had flipped over every couch in the living room, hit up the panty while the back up I called the help, were covering the upstairs and trying to dismantle his safe. The ring was honestly, no where to be found. What the hell was I going to do? I needed this. It was my only source for me to get enough money to bond my father out. My cut from the 46 mill, would do wonders, finally supply all of my needs, I'd be able to not only leave from this with my dad; I'd be able to provide until he got back on our feet.
I shook my head and groaned aloud. "It has to be here! We need to find it." I said, punching one of the walls. I then opened up some more of the kitchen cupboards and pushed every plate out, to the point where they shattered all over the floor beneath me. I emptied out every pot, every cup, destroyed every liquor bottle. "Where the hell is it?!" I yelled, looking over at the clock, time was closing in on me. To think I had been here all morning and nothing.
I paced over the broken and shattered glass beneath me and mutter curse words. In the moment, I looked up to see Rosa not only watching me, but she had a slight grin on her face. "Is this funny to you?!" I yelled.
"Hilarious." Was her word of choice. I didn't understand, the whole time we had her at knife point, she didn't flinch, she didn't seem troubled, she didn't cry or even whimper and I didn't like it. It was if she didn't think I was capable of all the threats I had been throwing at her since I got here. Clearly, she didn't know me.
"Give me the knife." I said to my cousin and without any hesitation, he handed it to me. I held it right up against her neck and looked into her eyes. "You think this is a joke?" I asked.
"A big one."
"And why is that?"
"Because I know you'll never find that ring." She smiled. "Whether you kill me... or not, you will still end up leaving here with nothing but a few charges."
"So, you know where the ring is?" I asked, raising my brow.
"Maybe," she smirked. "Maybe not."
"Rosa... I know that this isn't what you want." I chuckled. "To be caught up in someone else's' mess. I know you're here just trying to save up enough to one day have a home on your own and I know how much you wanted to make your family back home proud. Wouldn't it be a tragedy if they had to come here, just to bury you?" I pushed the knife further against her neck and I could feel her swallow the lump in her throat. "I don't have to do this, you could easily just tell me and I will let you go."
