Wifey
Jailah ChristiansI changed out of the clothes I had been wearing after finally being able to have somewhat of a shower in the shower located in the room. My mother had brought me a long-sleeved, black ribbed dress that went down to my ankle. Along with my comfortable fur slides. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, finally beginning to look like myself. I still had some bags under my eyes but it was okay for now.
I was truly stressed with work deadlines, this situation wit Cairo, The sicko Mychal, Cailah being sick, not to mention the fact that I haven't even been able to see my house yet. Everything was just weighing in on me.
I had an uneasy feeling all of a sudden but I didn't know what it was, maybe I had eaten a little bit too much because I was starting to feel some sharp pains come and go. It was either all the junk, me being stressed or just a set of Braxton Hicks. I was only eight months and three days, my doctor predicted that this pregnancy would go full term and I'd be damned if it didn't. Not to mention the fact that I wasn't prepared and this week had been a trying one already.
I plopped down in one of the chairs, smiling at the sight of my mother reading to Cailah in her bed. It really warmed my heart to see the two. Especially seeing how my mother matured into the woman she was today. God must've known how much I needed her.
I sighed a sigh of relief and looked around the table, my eyes spotting the envelope that Cairo had left there for me. The one that I hadn't had the heart to open since it was handed to me. I couldn't believe that this was real.
I took it off of the table and pulled out the papers, setting it out on the table before me. My brows furrowed, and I looked into the envelope to see the ring, in there as well. Not the first ring he bought me, but his mother's heirloom. I shook it into my hand and held it up into the light. What the...
"You okay?" I heard her ask, glancing over the book to look at me.
"I'm good." I nodded.
"The book Nana!" Cailah pointed.
"I'm sorry princess." She then returned to reading.
I smirked and looked down at the divorce papers and at the top was a written note that simply read. 'Till death do us part, Mrs. Knight.' The bottom of the forms, still, unsigned. I shook my head and after reading that last part, I flipped over the papers, to see an outline; it looked like it was the documents for his closing deal. "This nigga." I mumbled to myself.
I stood up and went to grab my jacket, "What's wrong?" my mother asked, closing the book.
"I gotta run to get something. Mind watching Cailah for a few?"
"Not a problem!"
"you going to target mama?" Cailah asked.
"No, but do you want me to grab you something?"
"No. I want something for my brother." She said, pointing at my belly.
I chuckled. "I'll see what I can do." I grabbed the envelope and placed the ring onto my finger, without even second guessing it. I tucked everything under my arm, I took up my mother's car keys then waddled towards the door. "See you guys soon."
"Bye mama!" Cailah waved.
I walked out of the room and headed down to the elevator, as I climbed on, I couldn't help but look down on the ring on my finger. This guy was honestly crazy... and I had to admit; I was just as crazy for him as well. After all, he was my husband.

Thank God for expecting mother's parking. I threw my mother's car into there, not even making sure if I was straight or not. I climbed out as fast as I could and applied some lip gloss as I made my way to the door.
