Improvement

The night was full of beauty, love, and memories. I can see that my sister is having a great time and that she's enjoying her day.

The program went smoothly from the 18 candles, the 18 treasures, 18 blue bills and up to the 18 roses. Like the usual routine, panghuling sayaw ng kapatid ko si Papa.

That moment I can't help but to feel emotional as I watched my dad and my sister danced in front. Mahigpit na niyakap ng Papa ko si Naomi habang umiiyak. I can feel that also some of our guest was emotional because of that scene.

"As we formally end this part of our program, we will have our evening dance."

Nagulat ako dahil sa sinabi ng emcee. I wasn't aware that there will be this kind of activity at Naomi's birthday. Siguro gusto din ng kapatid ko at hindi na ako sinabihan dahil alam niyang ayaw ko ang ganitong eksena.

"Sorry nak but I'll dance with your Mom first."

Natawa nalang ako sa sinabi ng Papa ko sa akin. I watched how he held the hand of my mother and took it gently and placed it in his shoulder. Hindi ko alam pero naiiyak ako habang tinitingnang sumasayaw sina Mama at Papa.

It is really possible to stay in-love despite how many years you've already known each other kasi ang iba habang patagal sila ng patagal, mas may tendency that they'll fall out of love or have infidelity issues or what not. I mean the relationship of my parents is not perfect and I know that. I witnessed and heard some of their fights but at the end of the day if you truly love each another then you'll always come back to the arms of the one whom you truly love.

And I envy that kind of scenario. Kahit gaano man kahaba ang araw, uuwi sila sa piling ng isa't isa.

I'm still sitting while drinking a glass of wine as I am watching the guests dancing in the center with the people they love. Kahit kapatid ko nakita kong kasayaw si Adrian at mukhang masayang masaya silang dalawa. I'm just happy that despite the fights that they already had in their relationship, they managed to stay happy and contented with each other.

"Nadine."

I placed my wine glass on the table when I heard someone's calling me. Lumingon ako at nagulat sa nakita ko. I didn't expect that he's still here finishing the entire program because I expected he would leave early after the 18 roses segment.

There I saw him standing looking straightly into my eyes and with every blink of his eye I feel sadness and pain. That deep within his soulful eyes, I know he's hurting.

Lumapit siya sa akin at nagkatitigan kami. Hindi ko alam kung anong sasabihin basta ang alam ko lang ay nakatitig lang ako sa mata niya. I missed this because it's my favorite thing to do. Looking into his eyes and feeling every jolt of sincerity he got for me.

"Can I have this dance?"

Napatingin ako sa kamay niyang nakalahad na at naghihintay nalang na tanggapin ko iyon. Napakurap ako at nararamdaman ang namumuong luha sa mga mata ko. I swallowed hardly and said to myself that let things happen the way it should be. For the first time after how many years, I let my heart decide and take over for tonight.

Slowly, I placed my hand into his at tumayo na. Nung nasa gitna na kami ay napansin kong nagdadalawang isip pa siya kung ilalagay niya ba ang kamay niya sa bewang ko o hindi. In the end, he slowly placed his hand on my waist and held me closer to him.

While we were in that position already, the music suddenly changed. Hindi ko alam anong gagawin ko o kung anong mararamdaman ko when thousands of memories came back to life as I heard that song again for how many years.
