BEAM POV

Why did he have to show up now? Why with Forth around? It was bad enough that he was staring at me practically the whole time. And mom inviting him to dinner. We had only been on four dates.
When we got home I made my way upstairs and flopped down on my bed. I didn’t get much time alone before Beer knocked and entered.
“Hey, little brother. She said as she came and laid down next to me.
“Hi.” I replied causing her to laugh.
“I have a confession.” She said softly. I turned to her.
“I do as well.” I replied. She turned to look at me as well.
“I’ll go first.” She said. I nodded and let her continue. “I don’t like Forth. It’s not that he isn’t an amazing guy, because he is. I just don’t have feelings for him. There is nothing. Actually I think he might be gay. You should have seen the way that he was looking at you at breakast. And when Bank showed up.” She explained causing me to laugh.
“Yeah okay. He totally looked like he wanted to jump me.” I said jokingly. Beer sat up and nodded.
“He looked more like he wanted to devour you. And he obviously hates Bank, because he knows you guys are together.” She said shaking her head.
“We are NOT together.” I said sitting up as well. “I’ve been on only a few dates with him, and if we are being honest, I kind if hate him. All he does is talk about himself.” I said laughing. She laughed and patted my shoulder.
“Why do you keep going on dates with him then?” She questioned. I sighed and shook my head.
“I don’t know. Bank is just the first guy I’ve met in a long time and I figured he would be nice, and I could distract myself with him. I mean it’s been years since I’ve dated a nice guy.” I said shrugging. Beer laughed again.
“Maybe you need to date Forth.” She suggested. I pushed her and shook my head.
“I can’t. I don’t even think he’s cute. And even if I did I haven’t seen him in years, and know almost nothing about what he is like now. Plus, it would be hella complicated because he isn’t gay and he is your potential fiance.” I said smiling at her before laying back down on the bed. She sighed and laid her head down on my chest.
“I already told you that I don’t like him. I’m telling you he is probably gay. Maybe he thinks you’re cute.” She said. I laughed and shook my head.
“Shut up. I’m talking to Bank for now. Forth is not in the equation.”

The next morning I woke up to my alarm again and a call from Bank, asking if I wanted to go out for lunch later today. I accepted and got dressed. I made my way downstairs where mom was making breakfast with Beer, who smiled wide at me as I entered the kitchen.
“Beam,” My mom called my name, pulling my attention away from Beer. “I hope you don’t have anything planned for this morning because you’re going to help Forth.” She said making me choke and cough on the water I was trying to drink.
“What? Why?” I questioned wiping my mouth.
“Well, his mother told me that he was setting up for a friends birthday party by himself and, Beer was kind enough to offer you help.” Mom said smiling wide. I turned my head to glare at a wide grinning Beer.
“Oh,” I say, still glaring, “How nice of her. When does he need me to help?” I ask, finally turning back to my mother.
“He’s on his way.” She said. I sigh and stand up.
“Wonderful. Oh and I think right after that I’m going to go on my lunch date with Bank.” I tell my mother, well mostly Beer so she gets the fact that I’m not going to date Forth.
“Oh, wonderful. I’ll see you later then.” She said kissing my cheek. I could hear Beer sigh deeply from behind me, telling me she understood what I was saying fully.
A few minutes later Forth showed up and we left.
“Thanks for coming to help.” He says once we are on our way. I smile at him and nod.
“No problem. That just gives us more time to get to know one another before you and my sister become a thing.” I say. He laughs and shakes his head.
“Or just gives us time to hang out and become friends.” He replies. I smile fondly at him and nod in agreement.
“I agree. But I can’t help all day, sadly. I have a lunch date around one with Bank.” I inform him. He doesn’t really say anything and just nods. “I can help you tomorrow before the party actually starts if you need me too.” I offer. He smiles again.
“Thank you, but I’m sure it’ll be okay. Bank? The one we met at the restaurant?” He questions with a tone and facial expression that are unrecognizable. I nod, ignoring it.
“Yeah.”
“He seems interesting.” He replies. I nod again.
“He is. He’s cute and nice a lot of the time.” I say trying to find some good qualities about him and name them off.
“Yeah.” Was all Forth said as he nodded.
The rest of the ride was mostly silent. Not a weird silent though. And when we did talk it was casually, like we had been friends for years. It was nice. I liked it.
“You can just set those boxes down over there on the table. Watch out for the cord on the floor.” Forth said pointing to a table on the other end of the room as we walked in. I did as he said, making sure not to trip over the cord, and walked back over to him.
I wasn’t watching where I was going on the way back and failed to avoid the cord. My foot got caught under it and I tripped forward. I braced for impact, but it never came.
When I looked Forth’s face was inches from mine and his arms were wrapped around my waist.
“I told you to be careful.”
