BEAM POV

As I exited the house my phone began to ring. When I checked the caller ID I smiled wide. Cake, my best friend was calling. I answered the phone with a smile.
“Cake.” I answered.
“Beam.” She answered back. “How’s my flower?”
“Good. How’s my kiki?” I heard her laugh at my response.
“Great. I had a date.” She replied. I could by the sound of her voice that she was smiling and happy.
“With Lemon?” I questioned getting into my car.
“Indeed. Have you met your prince charming yet?” She questioned. I laughed and shook my head at no one.
“No. I’m just now leaving to go on the date.” I said. I heard her sigh.
“Not what I meant. Why are you going out on dates with other guys when you should be seducing Forth?” She said. I scoffed and laughed again.
“You are joking, right?” I question. “You do realize that they want to introduce him, well reintroduce him, to my sister in hopes of them marrying, right?” I asked. I heard her scoff.
“I don’t see why. It’s so clear he is gay.” She said snorting.
“Cake? Have you been internet stalking him?”
“No.”
“Cake?” I say again, knowing she was lying.
“What? So what if I was. I had to make sure that this handsome man is right for you, and after intense research and sleepless nights, I concur. He is indeed your knight and shining armor.” She said. I sighed and rolled my eyes.
“Who my parents want to marry my sister.” I say stressing that part, I don’t know how many time.
“That’s a minor detail.” She says. I roll my eyes again but chuckle this time.
“Cake, I’m going on this date because I’m not going to be stuck on some guy I knew when I was younger, who is now going to probably be engaged to my sister. It’s pointless and plus this guy is hella hot. Now, I got to go. I’m at the restaurant.” I say pulling the phone away from my ear and hanging up, not waiting to hear her say anything else.
I had been friends with Cake since high school. She used to have a crush on Pha, my other best friend, before realizing she was gay. Fun fact; Pha is also, ironically, gay.
I parked my car and adjusted my outfit before getting out of the car. I made my way into the restaurant and immediately found Bank, my date.
He had dark black and hair and dark tan skin. His muscles weren’t large but weren’t small either. He looked like he could handle himself well. He reminded me of Forth, but that's not the point.
“Hey.” I said smiling and walking up to the table.
“Hi.” He said greeting me with a fond smile. I sat down in front of him.
“I’m sorry I’m late. I had someone to my parents wanted me to meet. My sisters soon to be fiance, they hope.” I said. Bank laughed and shook his head.
“It’s alright. I went ahead and ordered for you. I remembered what you said you liked from our first date.” Bank said smiling wide. I smiled back at him and looked down shyly. Did he remember? That was nice of him.
“Thank you.” I said. He nodded and reached forward to grab my hand that was laying out on the table.
“How were your final exams at college?” He asked. I laughed and nodded.
“They were good. How’s work going?” I question. He nodded as well.
“Good. My boss is such a jerk. He tried to make me do all this stuff that I was qualified to do but didn’t want to. I mean, I can’t even have a relaxed day without him nagging me.” He started.
The whole date consisted of us sitting here, eating breakfast, and me listening to him complain about work, his family, and his ex. What a fun date it was.
“Beam, I really liked spending time with you.” He said once we reached my car, that he had walked me to. “We should definitely do this again.” He said. I nodded and smiled.
“We should.” To be honest, I didn’t want to but I also didn’t want to be rude.
“I’ll call you.” He said smiling. I nodded and smiled back. He slowly leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. He tried to kiss me deeper, but it was just sloppy and unpracticed. When he pulled away I said goodbye once again and got in my car. I wiped my lips dry of his saliva an started my car.
We had been there for about two hours and I couldn’t wait to go home. I then drove back to my parent's house.
“Mom! I’m home!” I yelled as I walked in the door. I walked into my kitchen where my mom was with Forth’s mom, Martha, and his little sister Prae.
“How was your date, P’Beam?” Prae asked as I walked in. I nodded and smiled.
“It was…..nice.” I said. “He was cute.” I replied making her smiled wide.
“Oh dear. I’m so glad that you're having dates now. It really is great that you are trying to be happy.” My mom said smiling fondly at me. I nodded and looked around for dad, but couldn’t see him.
“Where’s dad?” I asked. Mom points to the patio door and back door. Through the window, I spot dad and Beer laughing with Forth. I thank mom before making my way outside.
“I’m home.” I say walking outside and sitting down next to Beer.
“So, Beammie, how was your date? Was the guy hot?” Beer asked. I laughed and pushed her slightly. Forth looked between us confused.
“You’re gay?” He asked. I look to him and nod.
“Indeed he is. It’s up to me to reproduce and give our parents grandkids.” Beer said dramatically. I scoffed and shook my head.
“Shut up. I can still have kids, you know? There are plenty of ways for gays to have kids.” I say with a slight attitude.
“That’s brave of you to come out.” Forth said looking at me fondly. When I look at him I realize he is staring. I quickly avert my eyes and feel my cheeks heat up.
“Thanks. I think I’m gonna go help mom in the kitchen.” I say standing up and heading back inside.
Did he have to look at me like that? God, what was wrong with me?
I shake my thoughts away head to the kitchen to help mom fix dinner. They ended up staying for dinner so we could all catch on what had been going on. It was nice, but I couldn’t avoid all the stares Forth gave me.
What was up with him?
