Selena's POV
The tip of my pencil improvised its way over my notebook sheet. It has been four days since the meetup, and every day she started to fill my head more and more. I had texted her to wish her a good morning. She never replied and it has already been hours. It's definitely not morning anymore. Perhaps she wasn't much of a texter, or perhaps she was playing games with me. She seemed to be the type of person to do that. She seemed to enjoy teasing me a bit. I didn't really mind. But ever since I sent the text, the thoughts had been racing through my mind.
I hadn't really had much time yet to think about what weapon I should bring to our next appointment. I want to impress her, and at the same time, I want to challenge her in a way. She sounded like she wanted to explore something with me, but I didn't even dare to think about such thoughts. And yet I couldn't help it. The image of her strong hand holding one of my weapons darted in my mind. Not just any weapon, a weapon that could inflict pain on... me.
I gulped and gave a sigh and quickly continued the drawing I made. It was almost finished, I only had to add a little more highlight to her long curly hair. "Selena." I looked up at the teacher who eventually noticed that I wasn't paying attention to class in any way. This subject wasn't really the more interesting one. "Mind sharing what seems to be more important than taking notes?" Misses La Claire already made her way to my desk. "Let's see." She snatched my notebook from underneath my arms and took a look at it. "Please give it back." I raised my voice a little, pleading for mercy. She seemed to be impressed and nodded. "And who might this lady be?" She asked as she faced the unfinished drawing of Demi towards the class so everyone could take a look. They all grinned a little. "It's just my friend." I stated. It felt good to call her that. "Your girlfriend?" "No!" "What's her name?" "I respect her privacy." I said, not wanting anyone to know about her, not as long as she didn't give permission. "Alright, alright. But keep your attention to class." She threw the notebook back on my table. I jumped due to the loud smack it made. "Next time I'll send to out of class." "Yes." I frowned, feeling a bit ashamed of the whole class knowing I drew Demi. Everyone knew she existed now. "Yes, Misses La Claire." She insisted on making me correct myself. "Yes, Misses La Claire." I said more clearly this time.
Class went on, but I still couldn't do as La Claire asked. I simply couldn't focus on what she was teaching us. I tensed my lips hesitatingly, but then shove my pen off my table. As I picked it up I quickly snatched my phone out of my bag. I placed my phone on my lap, underneath the table. I now placed my head on my hand, covering my eyes a little so I could look down at it. I got a message from Demi. I startled, as my heart started beating faster. She finally took the time to text back. I quickly unlocked my screen and looked at the message she sent me. Hey. She replied with a simple hey. It was enough to make me happy. I quickly started typing. Have you thought about a date to hang out again? Name any day, I'm most likely available. It perhaps sounded a bit desperate. What if I would scare her off? It was too late, I had already sent it. I startled even more when I saw that she was online. Oh boy, she started typing.
"Every night, I dream you're still here.
The ghost by my side, so perfectly clear.
When I awake, you'll disappear,
Back to the shadows
With all I hold dear.
I dream you're still here."– Digital Daggers
"Selena. I'm most certainly not used to this behavior from you." La Claire sounded more stern than before. A little mad even. My head shot up again. "Phone." She held up her hand, demanding me to give it. But Demi was still typing. "But I... I'm sorry I won't do it again." I couldn't let my phone being taken away now. "Phone." She repeated with her eyebrows raised. There was no turning back, it was clear. I regretted closing my screen and giving the mobile phone to her. "You may leave now. You can ask your phone back at the end of the day." I widened my eyes, as she seemed to be adding more and more punishments. This was simply unfair. "Can't I get it back at the end of this hour?" "Don't push me, Selena, or you may visit the principal's office." She warned. I felt my veins filling itself with rage, I wanted to knock something. I clenched my fists. Keep it together, Selena. I grabbed my stuff and stormed out of class.
