I walked out of the guest bathroom and was met with none other than Mr.Sam Green himself. Honestly, has the guy ever heard of knocking? Hmm, wonder what he wants.
"Hey."
"Heyo."
"We need to talk."
.....
"Well then, talk."
"Look I'm sorry for just walking out like that last night. I heard everything you were talking about with my mom."
"Wait wait wait. Hold the phone. Did you just say you were eavesdropping on a PRIVATE conversation I was having with one of the only people in this world I actually trust? Sam how could you?!"
"I didn't mean to I swear I was just in the other room taking care of some work stuff and happened to hear you across the hall. It wasn't intentional I swear. I didn't even know you were coming over."
"Oh, okay then, what's your point?"
"Look, I may not know everything that's happened in your past, but I do know that whatever you had with your ex, that's not love, Eliza. What we have, the connection we share, that's love, Eliza."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Well, I know that I care too much about you to let one fight come between us. I know I care about you more than any other person in this world. And most importantly, I know that I want to be your one and only forever."
"Woah. That was deep. Dang. So what now?"
"I need you to be completely honest with me. You can't keep shutting me out and running away when things get hard. I need you to talk to me, let me know if I'm making you uncomfortable. I don't want you to ever feel the way you did with your ex around me. Deal?"
"Deal. What do you want to know?"
"What happened between your ex and you?"
"Well, after my aunt kicked me out, I was looking for a place to live and figured having a roommate would help with money. I had a temporary job at the local movie theater at the time. Anyway, a couple of weeks later, during one of my shifts, a met a college student who was also looking for a roommate, so we got acquainted and became roommates. Anyway, one day she had a friend over who introduced me to my ex and the two of us got to know each other and everything was great. I loved that he wouldn't bother me about my eating or self-harm and would leave me be. Eventually, he asked me to move in with him and so I did and life was great. A couple of months later, he made some bad choices and started doing drugs and heavily drinking. There was a point where there wasn't a time of day he wasn't intoxicated in some way. Anyway, this went on for a couple more months before one day I got tired of it all and left him and told him to sober up before he spoke to me. That night was the first time he hit me. He got angry that I was telling him what to do since he let me do whatever I wanted. So I went back to my roommate's place and stayed with her for a while. Then, about a month later, he showed up at her place and apologized and said it wouldn't happen again, and I believed him, and he did honor his word for a while there. Then one day, he had gone to the bar with some friends and came back totally wasted. I didn't think much of it because no one really stays sober at a bar, but the next day everything turned back into the way it used to be; him drinking and getting high, the abuse, everything. Every time he did something to me, he would apologize and say it would never happen again and I would believe him and come running back every time I tried to leave. Eventually, this became an everyday thing and he wasn't even sorry anymore. One day, he came home intoxicated as usual and wanted to have sex. I of course didn't want to because I was genuinely afraid of him at this point and wasn't ready to go there yet. So, when I refused, he didn't like that and gave me the worst beating ever. When I still refused to comply he pinned me down and forced himself onto me. He raped me, and that was the night I realized he had a problem and never really cared about me. Because we all hurt the people we care about at some point, but no reasonable human being does that they just don't!"
