Eliza:
After a while of talking, we went up to the guest room to chill. Sam lay on the bed as I finished getting ready for bed.
"Hey Eliza?"
"Yeah?" I spoke coming out of the closet, putting on some pajamas I had left there before.
"I know it's soon to start thinking, but do you want kids in the future?"
"Not really? I've never been too fond of kids and the idea of being responsible for another living being scares me. Is that a problem?"
"No, not at all, I'm okay with kids, but I can do without them, they can be a real pain."
"Tell me about it."
"Hey, you never really talk about your dad. Why?"
"Well, he died when I was ten, got into a car accident. We weren't very close as he was mostly focused on work. But he still made time for my mother, Caroline, and me. He was wise and smart and taught us to never take anything for granted. That's pretty much it."
"Wow. Sounds like a good person."
"Yeah, he was. You never told me about your mom."
"Well, she killed herself when I was six. The two of us had a pretty strong bond, but we had to. We only had each other. It wasn't much but it was enough for us. She couldn't keep a steady day job so at night she'd work at a strip club while I slept. She struggled a lot with depression but couldn't afford to see someone for it nor did she believe anything was wrong. So, she just let it destroy her. I didn't know it at the time, but there were so many signs that were a dead give away she wasn't okay, but I didn't know it wasn't normal because it was all I had ever seen her do. That's pretty much it."
"Do you miss her?"
"Yeah. But in a weird way, it all worked out."
"How so?"
"Well your mom's kind of like the mom I never had and I have you. If none of it happened, I wouldn't be where I am right here right now."
"I'm glad you see it now."
"Me too. But I always knew, and it scared me because people can leave as easily as they come into your life."
"Yeah, well I'm not going anywhere."
"I know."
"Love you."
"Love you too."
With that, we kissed, which lead to making out, plus a little more, if you know what I mean. 😏 😏 😏
