♧ The Next Day: ♧

♡ Eliza's POV ♡

"Eliza Rosewood, I have news for thou," Sam hollered, walking into my apartment.

"What news could thou possibly have for me," I dramatically spoke in response.

"Oh nothing much just that you no longer have to work for the next six months," he spoke triumphantly.

"What? Why? What the truck did you do Sam Green?!" I exclaimed.

"Wow. Most people would be thrilled to not have to work for the next few months-"

"Well most people don't have bills to pay and a roof to keep over their heads," I spoke, exasperated.

"Don't worry. Your paycheck will stay the same, actually, you're getting a raise."

"A raise? Really? For not working for six months?"

"No. For working your ass off for the last six years. Besides, I still need to handle the renovation of the salon."

"You're actually going through with it?" I spoke, nearly choking on my water.

"Yeah, we're about seven months late for that but it's fine. Better now than never."

"But I like the way it is now," I whined.

"And it'll be the same cozy place it is now. It'll just look like it's from this century."

"But this century is so... well blah."

"I had a feeling you would say that, so to compromise, I thought maybe we could clean the place up so it looks classy, but still keep the cozy vintage vibe without it feeling like you've walked through a time machine. It'll be the same place you fell in love with, just polished up with some fine-tuning."

"It's the fine-tuning that scares me."

"Hey, look at me," he spoke turning me to face him, "do you trust me?"

"I have faith in you, but I'm still not sure what exactly trust is."

"Okay then, have I ever let you down?"

"Well, there was that time you burned the cake you tried to make three months ago."

"That was you, Eliza. I wasn't even there when that happened. Is that what happened to my mom's birthday cake?"

"Oh yeah, that's right. Uh nooo... I have said too much," I quickly muttered trying to dodge the question. Yeah. There's a reason I don't cook and it's not just because I burn popcorn regularly.

"Suuure okay then... anyway, have I ever let you down?"

"Well, there was that time you dropped me into the pool..."

"Eliza you're really making it hard to have a moment here... I'm serious. Have I ever seriously let you down?"

"Noo..."

"Have I ever given you a reason not to trust me?"

"Well... there was that one time where-"

"That's not pool, kitchen or laundry related?" He quickly spoke, referring to the time he turned all my white tops pink in the wash. Thank god the boy's mother can fix just about anything.

"Noo..."

"So do you think you can let me handle this one?"

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Oh yeah before I forget, you no longer work at the coffee shop."

"Sam!"

"Well, you can't work there anymore seeing as you're going to be in charge of the hair salon full time now."
