After a long, tiring day, the sun has finally set. Jungkook and Jimin are standing on the vibrant and colorful Rainbow Bridge of Tokyo, watching the city spread below them. Lights glittered everywhere as if the stars are dropping to the earth. Huge and small buildings collide in the mixture of shadow, tiny vehicles rushing along streets that are intertwined like threads of lights. The lake glistens, mirroring the dazzling assemblage of the glittering buildings.
Jimin sighs, amazed by the spectacular view laid out before him. "Just when I thought Tokyo couldn't get any prettier."
Jungkook nods. To be able to stand here and have this breathtaking experience with Jimin, Jungkook feels like the whole world is on his side. "It's so beautiful..."
A soft gust of cool wind passes by, brushing against their skin. Jimin shivers involuntarily as the cool breeze replaces his body heat. Jungkook notices him pulling his thin sweater together and asks, "Do you want my jacket?"
Jimin shakes his head lightly. "I'm fine. We were here once, do you remember?"
"Really?"
Jimin nods, staring deeply into the stillness of the iridescent water. "It was a long time and we just briefly passed by with the other members. But I remember it was so beautiful that I told myself I would come back with someone I love."
A heavy silence fills the atmosphere as Jungkook registers his words. His heart lurches when he realizes that he's the one standing next to him. Someone I love—the words are constantly replaying in his head.
Snap out of it, Jungkook quickly reminds himself.
He tries to play it off by saying, "You're going to have to wait a long time then, hyung. It's not like you can date right now."
Jimin doesn't say anything for a moment. He just gives Jungkook a small, sad smile. "When it comes to love, time is never a problem, Jungkookie."
After all, I've waited for 4 years. Jimin thinks to himself.
"It's if that person wants to be with you," Jimin finishes, lacing his fingers together.
Jungkook's forehead crinkles and he looks at his hyung as though he just declared himself to be a flying purple cow. "Why would that be the case? Who would be dumb enough to not want to be with you?"
Jimin turns to look at him, his gaze soft. "You'd be surprised."
For a moment when their eyes meet, the world becomes motionless. Jungkook's breath hitches and as he speaks, his voice precariously low. "Why are you talking like you already know that person doesn't want you?"
It might've been Jungkook's imagination, but he thought he saw a quick panic flashing in Jimin's eyes. Before he can decipher it, however, Jimin quickly turns away.
"Hyung, do you like someone?" Jungkook's heart feels like it's being clenched as he anxiously waits for an answer.
Jimin flushes. "What?"
