Jimin walks under clear skies and a full moon, hands stuffed in his pocket. He's looking up, focused on the perfect, golden sphere in the sky. The stars are nothing but hazy speckles in the huge city of Busan. But Jimin knows that there are galaxies out there, and that comforts his inebriated mind.
"Hyung!" A voice calls out from the back. Jimin whirls around to see Jungkook running towards him. He stops to pant heavily, bending over with his arms on his knees.
Jimin gives him a sad acknowledgement before turning back. "Don't you have a fiancé to tend to?"
Jungkook straightens himself, puffing out a heavy breath. "No. I couldn't stand being in that room any longer."
"Didn't seem that way to me," Jimin says.
"Hyung, it's really not what it seems," Jungkook insists. He grabs Jimin by the shoulders and spins him around. Jungkook's eyes are magnetic—they have Jimin's in their pull, and he can't look away. "I was, what, 12 years old? I didn't know any better. So much has changed, hyung.. You don't have to worry about Ji Eun, she's got nothing on—"
"Why would I be worried about her?"
Jungkook freezes, his eyebrows come together in confusion. "What?"
"Jungkook, I'm not worried about her." Jimin replies, his jaw set. "I'm Park Jimin."
The ways he says it...the confidence that radiates from him makes Jungkook's heart do a somersault in his chest. "Right," he answers, whipped.
"But you know what worries me?" Jimin asks, sadness fills his eyes.
Jungkook shakes his head slowly.
"Your mom wanted grandchildren. The smile on her face when she looked at you guys hugging," Jimin says, his voice breaking in sorrow. "Jungkook-ah, I don't think she would ever approve us being together."
"So?" Jungkook persists, spreading his arms out as if to show that he could careless. "You're with me. Why does it matter?"
"But am I with you?" Jimin asks, a strained expression coloring his handsome face. "What are we? Your family's already decided your future wife and our company legally bans us. Are we even together?"
His words are like needles to Jungkook's heart, but still, he takes a step closer to Jimin. "Then I'll make it official."
Jimin gapes at him. "Huh?"
"I don't care if my family won't approve of us," Jungkook continues. He takes Jimin's face into his hands, cupping his flushed cheeks. The cold air turns their breaths into swirls of vapor. "I don't care if BigHit restricts it. I just want you, hyung, and that's all I want. So let's just be together. We'll put a label on it if you want."
Jimin doesn't allow his heart to react. He shifts his weight, a knot squeezing his throat. "It's not that easy, Jungkook. You saw your family's reaction."
