Jimin and Jungkook sit in their manager's office, fidgeting nervously. The room is so quiet that they can hear the whirring of the computer's engine and the gentle tick of the wall clock.
Their manager sits back with his arms across his chest, an angered look on his mannish face.
"You're telling me," he says, his eyebrow raised with judgement. "That the two of you going to Busan for a family dinner during Christmas isn't suspicious."
Jimin glances at Jungkook for help, but he only bites his lips helplessly. "Sir, it was just a family dinner. We've traveled together in the past—" Jimin begins to explain, but Manager hyung is not having it.
He runs his hand through his close-cropped hair three times in quick succession and fixes Jimin and Jungkook in a stare that can freeze the Pacific. He speaks again—his words come out in snarls. "Do you really not realize the gravity of the situation? With all of the rumors going around, you think it is perfectly fine to be doing this?"
"S-sir," Jungkook sputters. He has never seen Manager hyung so angry before. "We were careful. It was a harmless trip."
"What if a fan saw you and took pictures?" Manager hyung shouts back, his voice rising by the minute. "It won't matter if it was a harmless trip or not!"
Jimin shrinks back into his seat, feeling inferior under his rage. "We sincerely apologize. Next time, we'll take extra precautions—"
"Damn right you will," Manager hyung snaps. Jungkook and Jimin flinch, which makes him take a step back. Maybe he has gone too far. He drops back into his chair with a heavy thud. "I'm really disappointed in your careless actions, boys. You're playing around with the group's reputation on the line."
"We'll be more careful next time," Jungkook mutters.
But he ignores it. "With our upcoming album, we're not going to have time going back and forth with this. I'd hate to do this, but you really left me with no choice."
Jimin and Jungkook steal a glance at each other. Jimin gulps nervously.
The manager's shoulders raised and his lips a straight line. He takes a breath and leans towards them, his face grim. "You two are banned from going out in public with each other. Or doing anything that constitutes as being in a relationship."
Words left Jungkook. He stares at his manager in shock. "I'm sorry?"
"You heard me," Manager hyung repeats, his expression leaves no trace of compassion. "You left me no choice. For the sake of BTS and BigHit, I'm going to lay down consequences."
"Sir, with all due respect," Jimin says slowly, trying to remain calm and rational. "Banning Jungkook and I from going out in public and dating each other is completely unreasonable. It is our rights —"
The manager clicks his pen and closes the binder in front of him, unyielding. "I'm not going to discuss this any further. You both are going to abide by the rules."
