Chapter-40: Listen To Reply

They all went to college when Veronica striked again.

In-Ha and Mark were on their way to class when they bumped into her.

"Hi Mark", she said taking a step forward but he put his hand up stopping her.

"Out of my way Veronica"

"Can we please talk?", he could feel the sincerity in her voice then looked at In-Ha who blinked giving him permission to go talk to her.

"Let's talk"

"Alone", she looked at In-Ha

"Go ahead"

"But-"

"I have to go see Hei anyway"

"Go ahead", she tapped his arm and he nodded.

She turned around and took a deep breath then went to the cafeteria.

Mark stood a few steps away from her.

"What do you want?", Mark said while folding his arms.

"i just...", Veronica took a deep breath.

"Do you want to talk or not?", he raised his eyebrows at her.

"I'm sorry for how things went between us, for what I did to you. I'm sorry for making you think that I never loved you, because I did, and I do",  Mark's eyes widened at her confession.

"I don-"

"I know you don't feel the same and I'm not forcing anything on you. I've to live with the fact that I let go of the person I loved the most because of my greed", her eyes watered at the confession and Mark stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do.

"I know I cheated on you. I know I made you feel like a piece of shit", Her chin dropped slightly when Mark looked at her.

She looked at Mark when he said nothing, "Say something"

He looked at her and shook his head, "I never thought you'd take the pain of apologising"

Veronica looked away, "I should've done this back then but I'm happy to see you're happy again"

"I forgive you", he said.

Shocked Veronica looked at him.

"Now the one making me happy won't be happy if I held something against you", he shrugged

"You did hurt me sometime in the past but its in the past and we should move on from it before things get worse", Veronica nodded and smiled at him when he looked at the time.

"I'll see you around", Mark said walking away from her.

Hei reached the class and Jb was already sitting there. She moved to the back of the class avoiding him.

The teacher came in and started asking questions related to trust.

Great! Just what I needed Hei thought.

"So how do you think trust can be built between two people?", Jb raised his hand.

"Patience is the key", he was throwing daggers at her.

"Patience is the key. Yes. That's right. But why?"

"See, trust is hard to build. You don't just go around trusting anyone blindly", he looked at her, "it takes days or even months to build that trust kind of relationship but a second to break it."
