"Chasity, wake your ass up!"

"Make noise, Lo!" Ambrosine encouraged Logan.

It was 8 a.m., and Ambrosine was shaking me out of bed. She had already gotten dressed and headed straight here from Saint Josiah's. She really wasn't joking about building hunting. It was raining hard, but that wasn't stopping us from at least driving around and looking.

She wore a see-through raincoat with a Juicy Couture sweatsuit and gray Hunter boots. Logan held onto her leg, peeking from the side and smiling at me as she matched.

"I'm up! I'm up! Please don't scream, Logan!"

She yelled at the top of her lungs anyway, causing me to dramatically gasp. She was so smart for her age, despite not showing interest in her ABCs with Ambrosine. It wasn't that she didn't want to learn, she just wasn't being taught in a fun way. She definitely understands though. I laughed at myself.

"What's so funny, crazy?" Ambrosine sat at my desk chair.

"I was just thinking about how Logan doesn't like learning her letters because you don't make it fun. You'd assume she just wasn't ready. But she can understand me when I say don't scream. She's playing you." I chuckled, pulling out some clothes. I had already showered but decided to go back to bed just in case Ambrosine overslept or forgot. Guess not. We were making boss moves from here on out.

"Listen, it's working for Nova. Feel free to teach Logan by all means," she laughed.

"How you feeling, though?"

"A little relieved. I was giving CPR to something dead. Relationships just aren't for me. I'm just trynna marry the money now."

"I was thinking about something last night, though..."

"And?"

"How would you like to be my business partner? You can manage finances."

"You know I suck at math. I'd fucked up the bag."

"But you're great at counting money, you wouldn't mess up something that you can pass to your child." I laughed.

"Have you considered Saint Josiah?"

"Saint Josiah? In a hair shop? With horny women?"

"If he cheat he was never mine to begin with," she laughed.

"I don't think his manly pride would allow him to transition from the drug game to co-hair shop owner at all."

"That may be right. I'll consider it. I still want to start a non-profit organization, though."

"It can go hand in hand. We can do something once a month for foster children. Maybe donations of basic necessities and a free hairstyle."

"That's true. We all know that it can be a hassle trying to put all children in good homes but the funds have to come from investors or we'll be losing money. I feel for these kids though. I wonder how I would've turned out if my father considered some shit like that." Ambrosine sighed.

"If you were fine after living with him all those years, you would've been fine in a foster home. Corrupt or not, you didn't let your situation at home break you or change your heart. I think that's the real reason you were sent Logan. It was destined to happen."

"Speaking of Logan, I have some horrible news."

"Which is?"

"Her biological mother reached out to the agency, and they're calling a mandatory meeting today in about 20 minutes, so I would love for you to come in case she needs her ass beat and I'm unable to do it," she joked before laughing.
