Being higher up than Kaji, and graduated, Magno had his own little office and she would often hide out there. But today, she paced back and forth with her red eyes fixed on her phone scrolling through information.
"You look, rather awful," Magno had stayed quite for most of the time.
"I feel as bad as I look," Amaryllis sighd. "I've been trying to research as much as I possibly can on this damn Red Mask, and I also snuck out and did some late night trying. I was honestly expecting some sort of training from Endeavor today," she added the last part mostly under her breath, she had said training in a questioning manner. "My father was hella pissed about that...... and I probably took like an hour long nap in the last 28 fucking hours." Amaryllis stopped her pacing to flash a tired gaze at Magno. "And the only way I'm keeping myself awake is to keep on moving." Magno just stared at her with concerned blue eyes.
"That rough," was Magno's reply. He shifted his gaze down to a open notepad he had scribbled all over. "You really should rest."
"But I have shit I need to do." Amaryllis's filter liked to turn off when she was tired. "I can't take a fucking nap."
Magno laughed, "Yes you do." He motioned over to a small couch he had in his room. Amaryllis gazed lonely at the couch, "But what is Endeavor comes in-"
"I'll cover for you." Magno had a reassuring tone. She shifted her gaze back over to him then back to the couch. She began to make her way over to the comfy looking couch when Magno stopped her.
"Leave the phone here," he tapped the end of his desk with his pen. With a heavy sigh Amaryllis set down her phone and made her way over to the couch with a few naughty choices of words mumbled under her breath.
Amaryllis sat herself down and instantly laid down. Despite the fact that the couch wasn't the comfiest in the world it was like heaven for an exhausted Amaryllis. It wasn't long till Amaryllis drifted off into a deep sleep.
~
Amaryllis slept for a good 6, maybe even 7 hours, and Yuma did his best to stay with her the whole time. He piddled around doing whatever work he could, and he couldn't help but run over scenarios in his head of what he would say if Endeavor showed himself. Most of them went along the line of she was deathly tired and that he took care of much of her work. However, luckily for Yuma, Endeavor never showed up.
Yuma did end up completing a good bit of Amaryllis's tasks and did figure out something about Red Mask. It took him nearly forever to find it but he was able to find a fuzzy picture from a security camera. The video itself is fairly recent for the young hero that is in it is still in the hospital for his injuries. The video shows Red Mask holding the hero up by his neck. The video only really tells them that he was a tall man who wore a red mask that covered his whole face. As well as the fact that he seemed to take percussions. For he was completely covered from gloves to hiding his hair to as well and destroying the camera right after he defeated the hero. Which is probably why the video took some digging.
There was also another thing he learned today, something that had nothing to do with Red Mask. While Amaryllis slept her phone buzzed every now and then and Yuma's curiosity took over.
Although Yuma couldn't get into her phone, for a passcode stood in his way, he could read the messages she was being sent. She didn't receive too many messages but the one most prompt by someone named Toya. Yuma couldn't help but laugh to himself. His texts were short but had a sweetness to them, if sweetness was even the correct word to use. It was like there was this sass coming through the texts that Yuma found funny.
Toya's texts all revolved around the fact that Halloween was soon and he wanted to know if Amaryllis wanted to doing anything specific and such and such. From the way he texted her to the stupid little icon next to his name he seemed to be a bit more than just a friend to Amaryllis.
Yuma couldn't help but think about past relationships he had, with lovers or with family members. It brought back a few nice, and not so nice, memories. His gaze shifted over to Amaryllis, she was such an interesting character to him. She was very talented and strong, and he couldn't help but both pity and admire her. She was hated by Endeavor while someone like him was given respect, if you wished to call it that. It slightly bothered him, mostly for the fact that Yuma never understood Endeavor's behavior towards her. He had theories on Endeavor's cold nature, but they were just that, theories. His reasonings could be just about anything. But still, Yuma couldn't help but envy her for her strength and determination. Even with how hard Endeavor is on her she still forces herself forward. Yuma just wished he was like that, strong, and not just some sort of analyst that is to stick to the background of a fantastic painting.
When Amaryllis began to rustle Yuma quickly sat down her phone. She flopped over and stretched her limps. Her red eyes met Yuma's, she looked so much better than she had before.
"How was your nap?" Amaryllis shifted her attention to the clock hanging on the wall. "Well damn," she mumbled, sitting up and stretching once again. "I wouldn't even call that a nap."
"Nor would I," Yuma chuckled. "I took the liberty to do a bit of your work-"
"Really?" Amaryllis had cut Yuma off, "you really didn't have to do that."
"I finished mine and had time. But anyways," he continued, "I was able to find a little something of the allusive Red Mask." Yuma sorted through some papers and pulled out a picture from the fuzzy security camera and handed it to Amaryllis. She studied it for a brief moment before she spoke.
"It's not very much," she commented.
"But it is something."
Amaryllis gazed down at the picture once more before returning her gaze to Yuma. "So, what exactly is it that we know?"
Once again, Yuma shifted around the papers on his desk and eventually found the notebook he was searching for. He flipped through it till he found the page tilted Red Mask.
"We're aware of his villain name, Red Mask. We know that he targets young heroes, 7 so far, he hasn't killed anyone yet but most have been left in critical condition. And we have the picture," Yuma scanned over his paper to make sure he hadn't missed anything, the page itself was rather empty. "That is all."
Amaryllis hummed to herself, "Such useful information," she said sarcastically under her breath, Yuma chuckled at this.
"It's better than nothing," he added. Amaryllis nodded as a response. "We'll just have to keep an eye out for anything," she stated before she shifted the conversation. "Thank you for letting me use your couch."
"No problem, you needed it badly." Yuma's mind then clicked, "oh yeah," he added, "your phone kept on buzzing while you were asleep." Amaryllis looked intrigued and reached over to grab her phone. She gazed at what Yuma assumes were the messages and smiled to herself. This added to Yuma's thought that this Toya was more than just a friend.
Amaryllis looked up from her phone. "Anything you need me to do before I go?" Yuma shook his head, "Nothing that can't be done tomorrow."
"Thank you, again," Amaryllis said as she stood in the doorway to leave. Yuma gave her a small wave and she returned it before she disappeared.
