Christmas was nearly here and Toya had spent his day accompanying Amaryllis while she was out shopping. He actually enjoyed it a lot more than he expected to, Amaryllis even helped him pick out a few things for his siblings. He enjoyed following her around through the bitter cold and snow all day, listening to her complain and cling onto his arm trying to get warm. But now a new problem arose from Toya, he wasn't very sure on what to get her for Christmas. Sure it wasn't the very worst problem in his life but it still clung to his mind, more the fact he wasn't sure what she would even like.

They had split ways a little while ago and Toya was wondering around. He figured the easiest place to look for a gift would be Sarkans's shop, seeing there was so much random shit in there.

There was a chime on bells as he opened the door to the small shop, causing the cashier to look up, she was wearing a funny looking Santa hat. She looked back down rather quickly.

The shop was a tad more brighter than it normally was, for there were Christmas lights lining shelves, along with some other small Christmas decorations.

Toya began his prose around the shop, with nothing catching his eye. The shelves seemed dull and empty, full on nothing but junk.

"Hello," Sarkans's cool voice made Toya jump slightly. He had apparently been in too deep of thought to notice Sarkans creeping up. He was holding a box full of little figurines he was placing in a line across the shelf. He too wore a dumb Santa hat, expect his was more worn down with age.

"Looking for anything in particular?" Sarkans's focus was currently on aligning the figurines.

"A gift for a friend." Toya replied, returning his own gaze to the shelf. The figurines he was placing in the shelf were small little gnomes.

"A friend," Sarkans echoed. He finished lining the gnomes and strolled over to the counter to set down the box. Toya's eyes followed him and landed on the glass casing of the desk. Toya made his way over to the case and inspected what laid inside of it.

The case was mostly full of different pieces of glass, all of which were some sort of pricey souvenir. In the glittering case, something did catch Toya's eye. It was rather pretty, and something about it reminded him of the silver haired hero.

"See something you like?" Once again, Sarkans was looming over Toya, it seemed he was making an effort to stand right over top of Toya. He could faintly feel the tall man's slow breathing, it was cold.

Toya tried to ignore the looming presence. "Everything is too pricey," he said, that being the only thing he could find to reply. Sarkans hummed behind him, thankfully, removing his looming figure from behind Toya. He watched the tall red eyed man stroll over to the cashier, she too watched him with her green eyes.

"I could maybe give you a discount." Both the cashier and Toya looked surprised by these words.

"Now why would you do that?" Toya's words were rather hostile, but skeptical more than anything.

"Christmas spirit," Sarkans sang with a smirk across his lips. "And," he added, "I can't deny that I'm rather fond of you." These words struck a strange nerve with Toya, it wasn't a bad nerve but still something. Either way, if he was offering to give Toya a discount because of Christmas spirit, he saw nothing bad in it.

"So which one were you looking at?" Toya made another sweep of the glass case, his eyes still landing on the same item. He pointed it out and watched the women reach in and pull out the figure he had been eyeing. It looked even prettier out in the open. Sarkans strolled over and looked at the tag, Toya caught a glimpse of it as well, hoping Sarkans will give him a good deal.

"I could give it to you half off," Sarkans said. Toya looked back at the tag, and admired the glass figure once more. "Alright," he said, reaching into his pocket. This payment would cost him his cigarettes for the week, or possibly two.

Toya paid for the gift and the cashier even wrapped in neatly in a box. He then made his way back home, with gifts in hand.

It was still light outside when he returned home, and Fuyumi just so happened to be sitting at the kitchen table doing some work, Shoto was also there, busy with his own work.

"Wow," Fuyumi said, her tone full of sarcasm. "This must be a new record." She was referring to his ever growing arrival time. Gazing at the time, this was probably the earliest he's been home in a while.

Toya flashed Fuyumi a look and gave Shoto a soft smile. He did notice another look resigning in Fuyumi's features.

"Also," Fuyumi added, "she's cute." Fuyumi went back to her work, smiling as she did so. Toya was a bit puzzled by these words. It took him a moment to realize what she was referencing to. He opened his mouth to question her about this but she seemed to read his mind.

"I saw you two out shopping? I believe. I don't see how in the world you could get someone as pretty as her." Toya felt his checks flush red, he was prepared to retaliate but was cut off once again.

"Who?" Shoto was the one who actually spoke up, surprising both Fuyumi and Toya. He had been relatively quite since their mother was sent away for burning him. Regardless, Fuyumi didn't miss a beat in poking more fun at her eldest brother.

"Toya's girlfriend," she replied.

"She's-" Toya cut himself off, he couldn't find a good comeback. God knows Amaryllis was definitely not just a friend, but he wasn't sure if he would label her as his girlfriend. He decided to prey on this matter later and pushed it away. So he just kept quite.

After allowing Fuyumi to bask in her cleverness, Toya decided to take his leave. He walked over to the table and gave Shoto a pat on the back. "Want to help me wrap some gifts?" There was a slight glint in his brothers eyes and he hopped up from his seat. Toya flashed him a smile before he made his way out of the room, hearing Shoto follow closely behind him.

The rest of Toya's evening was rather pleasant, something that was a rarity in Toya's life. He just wondered how many more of these days he would have.
