That night Amaryllis came home completely drenched and her mind buzzing. Her father seemed concerned when she walked in.

"How was your day?" He asked, but it was easy to see the concern reflected in his face. Amaryllis didn't hear him at first, and perked up once she realized she had been asked something.

"It was," she chose her next word out carefully, not wanting to spark some deep rooted conversation. "Fine." It was easy to see the doubt in his intense green eyes.

"I just need a nice hot shower and some rest," Amaryllis added. She left before her father could answer.

Amaryllis left a trail of water as she climbed her way up to her room. She felt so drained of energy, Amaryllis was just ready to sleep. She peeled off her wet clothes before throwing herself onto her bed. She contemplated on taking that hot shower or not. She knew it would make her feel better but she was too tired to get back up. Amaryllis just decided on taking a shower in the morning, luckily she didn't have school tomorrow.

So Amaryllis wrapped her exposed tired body into her covers and closed her eyes. Hoping to get some sleep.

Amaryllis wondered how long she laid there, just begging for sleep. Alas, her prays were not answered and she kept tossing back and forth, unable to get comfortable. She couldn't get those haunting words out of her head.

Amaryllis wondered what she had done to receive that threat. She assumes it had something to do with that black creature, and what those people were doing with it. It honestly hurt to think about to much.

Almost as if it was on cue, Amaryllis's phone buzzed. Puzzled, Amaryllis flopped over to reach for her phone. She saw that it was a text from Toya, and she couldn't help but laugh. There had been a few other times where Toya had sent her a text in the late hours of the night, and they were normally something stupid. Just as this one was.

Do you think I should get a tongue piercing?

Again, Amaryllis couldn't help but laugh at this. She can easily imagine his monotone voice asking this question. She also knew that he was just asking this question to irritate her and/or to start some sort of conversation.

She began to type her reply; No, your mouth is already a fire pit and a piece of metal would make it 100 times worse. Every time Amaryllis sent a text she hoped that it would be read as nonchalant as she meant them too.

I guess you're right. More bubbles appeared under the sentence. Still might get one.

Amaryllis found herself groaning. You'll become a fucking fridge at the rate you're going. I'll make sure to give you a magnet for Christmas so you can display it on your face. Amaryllis wondered if that came out a lot harsher than she wanted, she did like to poke fun at the piercing Toya had, probably for the fact that her parents never even let her get her ears pierced once. It was a moment before there was another bubble.

Speaking of Christmas, it's snowing outside.

What? Amaryllis was rather puzzled by this, she couldn't decide if he was messing with her or not.

It's been raining all day, it can't be snowing.

Then go see for yourself.

Amaryllis was far too comfortable to want to get up. She tilted her head over but couldn't see anything through the dark window.

I'll just take your word for it.

Too lazy to get up to check?

Amaryllis huffed. Just too comfortable.

Lazy.

Haha, how funny. Anyways, I am hella tired so I am going to go to bed. Amaryllis could feel her eyes begin to fall, so she decided it best to end this conversation.

Goodnight, is what she last sent.

Alright. Toya wrote. And that was all, nothing else. Amaryllis found this odd, but she had become too tired to pry on it any longer. She turned off her phone and set it back on the nightstand. Amaryllis rolled back over and fell into a deep sleep. Something she hadn't had in a while.
